>> For many people, music and fitness go hand-in-hand, which is why many MP3 players make excellent workout companions. A few go above and beyond by offering handy fitness-friendly extras. I'm Jasmine France, and I'm here with the one such device, the Haier America Trainer. This MP3 player is constructed out of sweat-resistant plastic and features a compact and durable body that has a built-in belt clip on the back. The front of the device offers basic playback controls, a small monochrome display, and an integrated heart rate sensor that you place your finger over in order to take a reading. In addition to these external characteristics, the trainer features a number of extras under the hood that are designed to help you reach fitness goals. The device has an integrated stopwatch and pedometer, and it lets you input height and weight information in order to track calories. Plus, the package includes some simple software for tracking your progress over time. And for those who like to tune in to the TVs at the gym, there is an onboard FM tuner with pre-sets. Coming in at about $60.00 for two gigabytes, the trainer is an affordable and useful option for runners and walkers who want to combine fitness tech with the motivation of music. I'm Jasmine France with CNET.
