-Like everybody else these days, the makers of Firefox are looking to android as a nice, safe place to ensure future growth.
I am Seth Rosenblatt for cnetdownload.com, and in this first-look video, I'm going to show you the fourth beta of Firefox 4 for android.
The new beta boasts a faster page load time, better JavaScript handling, reduced memory usage, and support from the start list add-ons that are currently making their debut in a desktop version
of the Firefox 4 beta.
Although, it's still in beta, Firefox 4 for android is a feature set alone that puts it on a path to be one of the more robust android browsers available.
Tap the page icon on the left to reveal security information for the site when available.
Get inside searching and the option to save a page as a PDF.
Swipe to the right to pull out your open tabs list or swipe to the left to get quick links to bookmark navigation and preferences.
From there, you can set your homepage, control sync, manage cookies and
passwords and toggle images and JavaScript.
One new feature in the beta is the automatic resizing of text on zoom which has to be enabled into preferences.
Firefox for android also supports a download manager, broad add-on support that includes useful extensions like readability and fun ones like personas and solid feedback options.
Along with these improvements and features, however, remains a massive out to install by [unk] comparisons.
There is a good reason for at least some of the blow
which is that Firefox includes its own rendering in JavaScript engines separate from the default browser.
Although, the browser is still going to take up a lot of space compared to other apps and is going to be a comparatively big draw for people with data caps.
One last thing, Nokia [unk] take note Mozilla has been developing this latest version of the mobile browser from Maemo devices too.
Taking first look at Firefox 4 beta 4 on android, I'm Seth Rosenblatt for CNET.
