>> Hi, this is Eric Franklin, Assistant Labs Manager for CNET Labs and today we're talking about the Envision G2219w1. The display has a very barebones design and look to it. It actually has a glossy bezel on the front here. The screen rotates back about 35 degrees, but it does not rotate to the left or right. The display never feels unsteady because of this nice thick foot print. However we were a little disappointed that the height of the display cannot be adjusted. The OSD buttons are on the underside of the display on the bottom right hand corner. The OSD buttons are spaced with enough room in between them to feel distinct and not cluttered. The only problem with the OSD buttons are that the labels are a little bit too light. The OSD is easy to use and includes the usual brightness, contrast and color options, as well as an OSD time out option that allows you to the time how long or can figure how long the OSD stays on the screen after your last button press. In order to make the very aggressive $269 price tag, Envision really skimped on extra features here. As far as connection options, there's DVI and VGA, but that's pretty much it. There are no USB options and no other video inputs. The 22-inch screen has a native resolution of 1680 by 1050 and includes HDCP support for HD content. The Envision was able to achieve very good performance thanks to its scores in our DisplayMate-based sharpness test World of Warcraft in DVD and Blu-ray movies. This display didn't do well in our color scale test, which is an important test if you wanna get really accurate with your color. The $269 22-inch Envision perform well in our movie playback and games test and also performs well in normal office use. Its color production leaves something to be desired however, while it's aggressively priced, we recommend shelling out maybe a few more bucks for the Dell SP2208, which is 30 bucks more. It's better performing 22-inch display and it has more features. If you really can't afford that 30 extra bucks however, then this display will get the job done. Once again, this is Eric Franklin and this has been the First Look at the Envision G2219w1.
