>> Ms. Del Conte: Hi. I'm Natali Del
Conte with CNET News. I'm here today with Eli
Manning the quarterback of the New York Giants,
and he came to talk about Samsung's Four
Seasons of Hope Contest. So tell me about this
program.
>> Mr. Manning: They're basically giving
away a $1 million in technology products and
grants so parents, teachers, students can go
online and submit a 100 word essay of why their
school needs these technology tools to help out
their education.
>> Ms. Del Conte: How many of these
essays will you be reading personally?
>> Mr. Manning: I don't know many essays
I'll be reading. You know, I'm just trying to
promote that the kids and parents or teacher or
whoever write the essays and make sure they
give good examples of why their school needs
some new technology to help out their
education.
>> Ms. Del Conte: So if there are kids
that need help with proofreading, what's your
e-mail address?
>> Mr. Manning: [laughter] Well, they
could maybe submit some to the Giants, and I
can look at them.
>> Ms. Del Conte: In your travels as a
football star do you see a lot of impoverished
education?
>> Mr. Manning: You know, I've visited
some schools for not always looking at their
education but just looking at different things
and to talk to children about how important
their schooling is. And, you know, even though
at times you can struggle or if you're getting
behind, don't be afraid to ask for help and I
think that's the hardest thing sometimes for
kids.
>> Ms. Del Conte: How do you think
technology can help children and how has it
affected you?
>> Mr. Manning: Just getting the right
products, the right software into the schooling
system. You know, they're all teaching tools.
Teaching technology, that's what it is, and I
think it just sets them up for the 21st century
where technology, the internet it's so powerful
there's so many different resources and
learning techniques that you can learn by using
it.
>> Ms. Del Conte: So if I'm paying
attention to my commercials on Sunday, your
brother Payton represents Sony and now you're
here with Samsung is there any sibling rivalry?
>> Mr. Manning: He plays for a Colts. He
can do whatever he wants. And, you know, I'm
here in New York and here with Samsung so we
support each other but we have different tastes
I guess.
>> Ms. Del Conte: Apparently.
>> Mr. Manning: [laughter]
>> Ms. Del Conte: Well, thank you so much
for sitting down with me today. In New York
I'm Natali Del Conte with CNET News.
