>> What's up Apple biters, you know that we're on top of our stuff here. So we wanted to let you know that we did get an invite to Apples preview of the iPhone OS 3.0 software. My invites right here. So we'll keep you posted with everything that happens. But for now let's get to the show. ^M00:00:14 [ music ] ^M00:00:21 >> What's up, I'm Brian Tong, and welcome to theapplebyte. We cover all the good and bad in the Apple world. But first boys and girls, today's magic word is shuffle. So every time you hear the word, don't be shy, and join us as we do the Applebyte Shuffle. ^M00:00:36 [ music ] ^M00:00:43 >> All right, let's get to the stories. Apple has a completely new version of their clip on MP3 player, the iPod Shuffle. ^M00:00:50 [ music ] ^M00:00:56 >> Is smaller than a house key, has 4 gigs of storage, and only one physical switch. Now all the track controls are on the earbud cord, and I'll get to that later. But what makes it unique is its ability to talk. By holding the play button it will tell you the name of the track you're listening to, and if you hold onto it longer, it will tell you the name of your play list and you can choose which one you want to hear. Now people are a little confused by this, and I actually like this talking feature. The Shuffle ^M00:01:21 [ music ] ^M00:01:27 >> Doesn't tell you the name of each song every time it plays one. And being able to navigate through your play list was never possible before this. It's priced at $79 bucks and comes in silver or black. You know, I'm pretty surprised we got through that whole segment. I think I only said Shuffle twice. Whoops. ^M00:01:42 [ music ] ^M00:01:47 >> The rumor mills are hot like fire over a potential touch screen Apple Netbook. Now multiple reports from the Commercial Times, Dow Jones Newswires, and Reuters [phonetic] are all saying that Taiwanese manufacturer Wintech has received orders from Apple for 10 inch touch screens. Now Wintech already produces screens for Apple's iPhone. The Reuter source says the screens will be delivered in the 3rd quarter of 2009, which mean an actual product will be sometime away. Now we'll continue to follow this one closely. Now have you ever wanted to send files that were just too large for an email? If you're a mobile me user I have a solution. ^M00:02:20 [ music ] ^M00:02:23 >> MobileMe users always have access to their iDisks, so the first thing you gotta do is drag and drop the file you want to send out onto the iDisk. I'm gonna put it in this folder called CNET goods. Now when it's finished copying, log into your account at me.com and click the iDisk icon. Find your file, select it, and you'll see a button to share the file. From there enter in the email of the person you want to send it to, and you can also set the file to be available for a certain amount of time, and even password protect it. All they have to do is open their email and click the download to retrieve the file, and it's done. All right, thanks for that tip. And seriously, that guy needs a freakin haircut. Now in other news, hackers have cracked the Apple iTunes gift card algorithm. $200 gift cards are now selling for less than $3 bucks. The Chinese hackers who broke the code are selling the digital vouchers directly to customers. Like do my people really have to bootleg everything? Apple can probably change the algorithm, but there are still thousands of $200 gift cards out on the market, so this could get a little ugly. Now if you didn't see it yet, the Waz [phonetic] made his debut on dancing with the stars last week, and here's a little peak. ^M00:03:29 [ music ] ^M00:03:39 >> Judge Bruno, well you know he had his own thoughts on the performance. >> Delirious. He's much like watching a Teletubby going mad on the gay pride parade. I mean you should have kept the boa on; you kind of distract it from the feet. >> Well you know what Bruno? The Waz is still in the game, and my 13 votes aren't going to waste. Steve Keith [phonetic] pretty much put it best. >> [inaudible] the end. It was fantastic. >> I'm having so much fun they're testing me for drugs tomorrow. >> Oh no. >> Oh great. Okay. >> It's just a joke. >> You gotta love him. The Waz will be back for more on Tuesday. So that little MP3 player, I've got a little beef with it. You know what time it is, this weeks BadApple goes to the iPod Shuffle. ^M00:04:20 [ msuic ] ^M00:04:29 >> There's no controls on the device, but Apple, you had to put them on the headphones? Did you really? You do know there are plenty of people who like their own headphones, right? So let's say I want to use my Vibe Duo's, but I can't, because I can't control my Shuffle. We're not dancing here. I'm guessing, you know, Apple will release an adaptor for our headphones. So what? We can spend like $30 more bucks? This is a disaster and you deserve the BadApple. Okay guys, I got that out of my system. But everyone remember to send your emails to the Applebyte at CNET.com and tell us what's on your mind. I'm Brian Tong, thanks for watching. And come back next time for another Byte of the Apple. ^E00:05:12
