Is getting up off the couch to get a cold drink of beer just far too difficult, then I have the solution for you.
It is called a robo-couch, designed by students from the University of New South Wales in Australia.
Let's go see if this is the future of couch surfing.
It might look like a regular couch but this 100 kilogram steel chassis holds plenty of tech.
Student engineer Will Andrews lifted the lid to show us what couched inside.
So underneath the couch we have four independently driven mechanim wheels.
The H-Wheel has these 45 degree rubber rollers on it and by having four of these wheels independently driven we can make the couch move any direction.
Forwards, backwards, left and right.

Or any combination of both.
Inside the arm rest, we have a large reply single board computer and a little wireless router, so then they can plug in a game controller or laptop, and then take to the roads we play.
And the Raspberry Pi will talk to the motor controller and make the couch drive.
Where does the [INAUDIBLE] couch fit in our future?
So we wanna build on top of it.
So autonomous systems on top.
So we've got the base platform done now.
And so we can use open source software from things like ROS and we can add things that can go and maybe you can text it.
It might come to pick you up in the future.
It will know where it is.
And hopefully that will make it more useful.
And maybe someone might think it's quite cool and apply it commercially.
Maybe.
Of cool things, what's the coolest things have done with this so far?
We took it for a road trip.
And we took it down to McDonald's drive through.
So we got a couple of soft serves and a Big Mac.
Turns out you can't drive and hold a soft serve.
But yeah it was an adventure.
While we're not gonna say this in our lounge rooms any time soon, the team has thought about making a robot fridge.
Now that's really built for the couch potato.
