We're also very lucky to be joined by Cnet's Mr. Cheapskate himself. Rick Broida, came all the way over here just to beat me up over that digital picture frame nonsense from last time. Thanks for coming here Rick. Thank you for having me. All right. Yeah, I'm delighted. Excellent. Picture frame baggage. Yeah, a lot of baggage here with Rick. We're gonna get through it. [LAUGH] All right. Well there are a few things that will make today's broadcast special. And we're gonna be answering your holiday gift toy, and other questions, but all tech questions live at the Twitter hashtag #CNETLIVE. So if you have any gift questions, don't be shy. Just Tweet us away. Yes, please, as if that wasn't incentive enough, we're giving away ten free [UNKNOWN] mini robots. That's right, ten lucky viewers will have a chance to win one of these. If you want a shot at one of these fantastic little robot things Scare your dog with. All you have to do is follow us on Twitter. We are @cnet on Twitter. And tweet at us with the hashtag #cnetholiday, that's one word. Now here's a little bit of legalese for you. We can only offer this If you're based in the U.S. and Canada, you've got to be 18 years or older, there's no purchase necessary. But why would there? It's Twitter. And if you love reading fine print, go check out the rules at cnet.co/holidayrules. Okay, Mr. Rick, let's get to the deals. What do you have for us right now, sir? Right. Let's start with some audio. So, I'm the cheapskate, okay? I'm not gonna spend $300-$400 on a pair of Beats. No, of course not. Not gonna happen. Okay? But the other end, you get the $20-$30 earbuds, that aren't really great. They're okay. But we need something in the middle. Right? Yeah. Something that's affordable but it also sounds really good. And that's what I've got here. These are made by 1MORE and these are called the Triple Driver Earbuds and they kinda occupy that special place in-between Beats and dirt cheap. That's huge! [LAUGH] It is a very big earbud! So normally these are triple driver which is Okay it's good. Better than dual driver but that's two and this is three, right? [UNKNOWN] Normally, these are 100 bucks. Viewers today can get these for 75 with code Cnet 25. Wow. And actually that code will work on everything on the one more sites. So there's actually a quad driver version of this. Normally 200, 150 with the code. And I got a chance to listen to these earlier and again I'm not a fidelity guy. I really don't really care that much. But they sound terrific. They got the inline mic. They stay in you ear. Saty in you ear. They come with ten different sets of ear tips including the The form ones that give you that really good seal. Mm-hm. Comes with a splitter. I like the [CROSSTALK]. Love the box. What do you prefer? Normally I just go for the kind of Silicon one. Yeah. If you really wana block out the sound. Get that seal. Yeah, you get that like an ear plug would give you. Yeah. So it comes with those as well. Excellent. So I like this. I like this a lot. Alright. Show me the box. What about on ear? Anything? I am not about the earbuds. Nothing fits in my ear. Right. So what is your guy's general preferance? Like you go in ear? On ear? In the ear hole .>> In the hole. Okay. Well mostly what I see are people, the kids nowadays, they like the on ear headphones. And again there is always a big price range with these. But today, we've got these disk-in DH3 on-ear headphones, which- I've got them on my laptop here. There we go, so they look really nice, they're very stylish, very comfortable. And normally they're 50 bucks, which is actually kind of a great deal already. Snazzy. But today you can get them for just 25 bucks with the code CNET love. Drop those down to 25 bucks. cnet love. So these are bluetooth but they also are corded so if you really don't want that loss of fideltiy from bluetooth compression you can jack in, assuming you have a headphone jack to plug them into. Actually I think becuase of everything with the changes of the adapters and the what not that everyone kind putting Headphones on their list higher than they were before. Absolutely, absolutely. So for 25 bucks this is really a great gift item. It looks like you spent a lot more than you did. That's the best part of gift giving, to make it look like you were way more thoughtful than you really are It's a cheapskate trick. [LAUGH] Do we have one more? Or are we gonna move on? Yeah, no, let's do one more. Yeah. So Bridget, you promised you'd model these today. Yes, I've been waiting for this [CROSSTALK]. Yeah, so these are [LAUGH]. Does it matter which way? I guess [CROSSTALK]. So this looks like an ordinary wintertime cap. But it's actually a Bluetooth headphone that's embedded right into the cap. Little boxes. All right, now that. I feel like. Sorry ladies. Wish I was cooler Married Wait a minute. First off I'm glad we got that out of the way. Second of all what are there speakers they are just speakers like [CROSSTALK] [INAUDIBLE] Little speakers in the ears. I think it is fabric here Interesting and the button is like invisible. So this is just a hat that happens to be a Bluetooth hat. Bluetooth speaker hat Okay, what's the sound quality like this? Never mind, let me guess. [LAUGH] Okay, not really. It's okay, gets the job done. Now, the idea here is that you're out walking the dog, right? And you just wanna be able listen this music, podcast, whatever. If you have to have this and that- Now, listen- It's all in one. I like it. different [UNKNOWN] is for different situations. My biggest concern is like the music bleeding out and everyone around you being able to hear [UNKNOWN] I want to share with everybody though only to flip'em up as it pointed at your ears [UNKNOWN] Flip it. Rick that's a hidden feature. Hidden feature. Now they're speakers [LAUGH] I want to look like [UNKNOWN] the rapper. [LAUGH] there you go. So the actual deal is you can actually get a two pack of these, one for yourself, one to give away whatever from youkstur, I think it's Youkstur. The charger is like itty bitty in here Yeah. Can you wash these things? I wouldn't. You can take out the speaker part and the cord and everything and you can actually wash this. Cool! Yeah, so normally it's $30 for a two pack. I wanted to guess how much they were! I'm sorry! Sorry, next time! So the coupon code is CNET10 and that drops it down to $19.97. Wow. So it's literally $10 a piece! And, you know, secret santa, you know, Yankee swap, great little gift idea. Totally, yeah I'm impressed so far I don't have really anything to make fun of you about. I've never seen those before What's that? I've never seen that hat with bluetooth before I have not. I saw this crazy Atari hat with speakers on it that made me kind of rethink everything but That's okay>> So I walked around New York City with that on just to kind of test it out and I mean let's be realistic if it's noisy you know they're not super loud Sure You know when I'm walking around the neighborhood i'm walking the dog whatever it's nice and peaceful this is great. Great Excellent alright let's pivot and turn to twitter. See what people are talking about. Again, if you want to be part of the conversation, all you need to do is use the #CNETLIVE. Okay, here are some coming in right now. All right. We'll see what we can do with this. I want to talk. Like, we haven't been able to do a lot of gift giving advice on, all these deals on mobile phones, right? Hm. But we can definitely give advice on A or B, like maybe what phone you should get. A question that just came in from Julio is. Hey, everybody, I have a question. Should I get an LGV 30 or an S8 Plus? These are two Android phones. Kinda feel like for me the S8 plus is kinda the way to go. I know a lot of people have problems with the LG screens. The LG30 uses the same screen with the pixell 2 XL. And if you've ever seen those reviews for the screen you can get pretty gritty. And Samsung makes the best OLED things for phone. So maybe they may they have on that so if you care about spring quality, Take this as a guy who owned and returned a PIxel 2 XL because of the screen and a couple of other features that kind of stunk. I would go Samsung there. Yeah, I feel like that's the kind of move. Just to play it safe. I mean, that's a very highly rated phone on the CNET website. So if we're just sort of Judging things for what they are out of the box, maybe you side with the Samsung phone. These are phones that cost more than $100, right? So not really my [CROSSTALK] Yes, they're not for you. No. They don't flip or clam, so they're not. You can try to clamshell them, but only once. They're making a flip one, aren't they? They might. That's a good one. [LAUGH] Let's see what else we got on Twitter there is some really interesting questions that probably deal with more of a personal family issue but, nevertheless we will get right to it. Richard wants to know what kind of gift could I give to my dad to secretly tell him I don't like him very much. This is actually a funny question because, It's deep [INAUDIBLE]. It's like a prank. What kind of tech gift would you give somebody to maybe undercut like I don't think very highly of you. I know the bluetooth hat sounds pretty good. [LAUGH] Yeah it's kind of [INAUDIBLE] If it was a few years back I would say Microsoft Zune. Yeah totally. Now that ship has sailed. Totally. Like what would you get somebody to just be like, I thought of you and when I thought of you it was like I don't like you. So Samsung Note 7. Yeah. [UNKNOWN] view. A collector's item I guess. The reissued version. I guess you could get them something that has voice activation on it. Yes So anything you go, you just talk to the parrot and you're like hat pair, pair hat and then you go okay. But then you're going to get a call You got me the stupid hat it doesn't work with the voice control. [LAUGHING] And scene. Alright thank you That's pretty good For being a part of our live interaction portion of the program. Please keep it coming, we're going to take a quick break but when we come back we'll have many more exclusive deals and we'll also discuss the best smart home gadgets to get for the holidays. Please stay with us. [MUSIC] EPS Thursdays. Welcome. TV's number one comedy brings you scientific breakthroughs. I can't believe you can turn ordinary skin cells into functioning brain cells. We are live We are in New York City. My name is Jeff Baggler and next to me is Bridget Carey, Ian Zaktar and the scene legend, known only as mister cheap skate himself, the good doctor, Rick Broyd, how are you sir? He's a doctor? A doctor of deals. He's a sorcerer. We want you to help us give you advice. Help us help you. If you have a question for us let us know on twitter, using the hashtag #CNETLIVE and we'll try and get you a reply but first, right now we want to talk to Mr. Iyaz Akhtar. Hello. Let's talk about all the things related to smart home tech. What are some really solid holiday considerations that you have for the world of smart home gadgetry? Are you done with that question yet? I'm just waiting for it. It's still trickling, trickling. And I'm done. Okay, so smart home stuff, okay, I'm I'm a big fan of the Amazon Echo Dot. Now this thing's like fifty bucks. You get it for $30 refurbed. It's really really cheap. Get the refurbed. Actually $30 now they still have it on sale, I think. Yeah. You can get a five pack if you want. Anyways, so it's really. I'm not even making that up. It's not gum. Well, you. Can get it. Anyway so it's really cheap. It's got tons of voice apps which Amazon calls Skills. The Dot itself can play music from Amazon Prime Music or Amazon Music Unlimited, Spotify so you're not stuck to Amazon if you don't want to be. The Dot isn't the best with audio quality so if you want you can hook it up to an external speaker. Or you can just get the larger Echo cause that's got pretty good audio. And those things come in really handy, the Dot, the Alexa devices come in really handle if you have smart home accessories like the Phillips Hue Bulbs, which I really love. You guys know about these things. I've heard of them. Tell us about them. The Hue bulbs are just a great way to get into smart home stuff. They're controlled by a hub. It can be dimmed using an app. There's also hue bulbs that change colors. So if you like mood lighting. If you want to match your wall to your horror movie you're watching. You know if you're watching Nightmare on Elm Street you can turn it to red. It's really pretty cool. And you can attach it to Alexis. You can tell her to change colors. And lastly my favorite from our home gadgets really more of an accessory. It is the. Logitech Harmony Companion. Now this thing is a universal remote control. So if you've got more than one device attached to your television like a Roku TV or Roku, you have a Apple TV, Chromecast, whatever. If you've got all these things attached to your TV this thing makes it way easier to switch from activity to activity. It works with pretty much every device you could think of. And it turns every IOS and Android device you have into a remote. So if you want- Yes. If you lose the remote just find another device and there it goes. And it also integrates with Google Home and Amazon Echo, so you can start talking to it. I'd like to personally endorse that at well. I've been using Harmony. I know, you were like why'd you use stuff? No yeah, I've been using a Harmony remote for Like ten years or so, and there fantastic if this is your first chance to get one, highly recommend doing it. I've got a lot of consoles and a lot of like junk hooked up to Yeah. My TV and I, you know it's kind of a pain in the **** to like explain it to people when they come over and you are like it is just one remote. They were like looking for where is your volume where is your. No it is everything consolidated into one. I am a fan. And now you can talk to it too. Like another thing to talk too. Yeah you know they have evolved in a direction There's the main core functionality, what it really does, the kind of like magic about it, that's the best part. I mean do you have one as well? Yeah, I have all that stuff. So at home, my smart apartment anyway. Yeah. Like I usually get sidetracked. I'll set up something on television, I'm ready to go, I go to the kitchen start making a snack, and then I realize I left the television on, so I'll just yell out You know, Alexa tell Harmony to pause. It pauses. Get to do what I'm doing, then I go back, I sit down, and I go, I forgot to turn the lights off. I go, Alexa, turn off the lights, turn that to red, I get to sit and be lazy. I work really hard to be lazy. That smart home stuff, it does take a little bit of setup but it's really Fun where you get to just sit there and enjoy it. I like sitting. I definitely- Let's be honest. Smart Home Tech is designed for the lazy man. Yes. That is [UNKNOWN] And also being able to just talk to your TV. Or talk to your bulbs and like Not like running around. Like in the old days. The stone age days were you were like flicking switches angrily. Like tell son, I told you to turn off that light. Like on son, Alexa turn off that light. [LAUGH] It's tough to show anger in those types of situation. Although if Alexa doesn't hear you. My son will year at Alexa. Alexa, turn off my room. You know what I just found out? I just found out you can change the Alexa trigger word to computer. That is way cooler. It is very Star Trek. Like, computer, Play this song for me on a computer. What's the weather? But then you find out that you use the word computer a lot more than you really [UNKNOWN] Yeah but my, I have a dot and my dot this hears me all the time. I'm saying something that sounds like Alexa a lot I guess but Haven't quite figured that one out. Every other TV commercial too [CROSSTALK] [INAUDIBLE] is doing it for you. Definitely. So I mean would you reccomend and Alexa over a home? It depends if you want to ask random weird inquiries Alexa stinks at that. Okay if you want to have the device that has the most skills Alexa is just Been there for a long time, Google's really trying to play catch up. Apple has there device coming up. I wouldn't recommend that- $400 right? You'd buy one of those Google Home Max>>Home Max is $400 as well, but the home is about $130 and the mini is about $20. I would say get a Dot, if you're gonna have to pick one of the two right now. Because they're just so cheap, and they work pretty well I think, and they're connected to the most accessories right now. Cheapskate approved. Yeah? Big time. Yeah. Because it's so cheap. 30 bucks. You can't go wrong. I feel like they're basically free at this point. Just about. Cuz we're all gonna have listening devices in our homes, so we may as well just give them away. Right, don't think too much about that. [LAUGH] Every time I do it, it hurts my head. Iyas, you featured the lightbulb stuff. Go into that a little bit because this is something I've yet to get onboard with. I'm not convinced I need to speak to my lights, so why should I invest in this? Okay, so like I said, I have an apartment. And so painting things is probably not the best idea. Now some of these colored lightbulbs, I have pointed at walls. Yeah. So So if I want to, I can change the white walls to different colors. Now that's way cheaper than hiring a painter or losing my security deposit or painting it myself. Cuz I'm not painting it. But why? [LAUGH] But why. It's more Color in your life, I don't know. Happier. I guess, but like can you give me. I'm curious. Okay, so they're dimming lights. It's bulbs that normally don't dim. Also, they're all LED based, so it doesn't cost that much money to run. Sure. Talking to them, one in particular. If I'm doing a podcast from home, if I want the lights to dim by 50%, instead of messing with them, I literally can just ask it to do it. All those lights can turn off Can you program it to say Set the mood. [LAUGH] I think there's a couple of ways to do that. So if you want to get really weird with it you can. Yeah. If you want to. I wanna get weird with it. [LAUGH] I think you can do it, just have to name the room something weird. Like, you know, turn the The boudoir to blue. [LAUGH] There you go. In your studio aparment you have a boudoir. [LAUGH] It's a one bedroom with a loft. No I know, I'm kidding around. My studio apartment. I have a studio in my apartment. I was joking about that. So what was the last product you talked about? The harmony with [CROSSTALK] The harmony. Yeah, the harmony is just, Now all three things that you talked about you could probably string together in a series of voice commands.>> Yeah and the weird thing is a dot you can use the harmony to control hue light bulbs or you could use your phone to control those two things. You don't need to have the dot, it's really if you just want to speak. To these things. If you have a Google Home, you can actually use Google Assistant on your phone. You can just talk to it instead of yelling out, "Hey Google." Or type to it because you might not want to talk. You're not a very talkative person when it comes to speaking to your home, are you? Now, in fact we don't have any of these in the house because of like worries that the Government will somehow use it against us. [LAUGH] I'm dead serious. It will. No, it will. No question. It's a bit creepy about it sometimes. But no, I like playing with them though here. Yeah. Before we move on to Twitter stuff, I find it very kind of soothing to just play games with Alexa and sort of just like See what kind of a rabbit hole you can dig yourself in to. I forgot about that, there's Jeopardy on Alexa, which is- There's some fun to be had. You've got Jeopardy, you can say like, inspire me, and it will give you an inspirational quote. There's like thousands Maybe like tens of thousands of skills that Alexa has. I feel like you're talking about mind games though. You're trying to play other kinds of games. Well, yeah. I'm also trying to like constantly see if like Alexa is like sentient, sort of like. Yeah, like can she tell you the meaning of life. Right, right. Always, and secretly like also trying to manipulate her at the same time. Well the worst. Thing is when you call it by the wrong name. I'll say hey google and then I'm like I'm talking to the Echo and I'm like no. So you have both. I have way too many of these things. Why Well my brother gave me a bunch for gifts. He is like here is a bunch of dots. I'm like I don't need three dots in my apartment. It is 600 square feet. [LAUGH] They can all hear me. But the dot and the google home devices they also have The ability that the nearest one will answer you. They're not all answering you which would look maddening. Yeah that'd be absolutely insane. And [UNKNOWN] don't forget that too. Amazon finally added that. Yeah right does the Google Home do that too? Google Home did multi-room audio from day one I want to say. Okay so you're talking about different streams coming from diffferent rooms. So if you wanted to say hey play this song on all the Google Home devices. Gotcha. You could do that. In Amazon, I think you have to go to the Alexa App, group them as one thing and then you could say play music in this group and it'll do that. That was something that like kind of that taking on Sonos Right. But it's, I still don't know if it's as easy as Sonos, but again its a multi room audio. Either one is a good start. So cheap. Alright Bridget is going to take us back to toys in just a second. Last thing I just want to say if you go into the Alexa app on your phone you can listen to every time you have spoken to Alexa. That will freak you right out. Anyway. Take it away with toys. What have you got? Alright lets see People are wondering, a game question. This isn't doing for you Jack. I can do that. Lay it on me. The PS 4 Slim. Yeah. All right, is this going to be something that's going to be good for the next four years, or better to go with the PS 4 Pro, I guess that thought of paying a little more for the future proofing. That's a good question. Surprisingly, no, I'm kidding. [LAUGH] Yeah, four years is kind of the weird spot, right? Cuz I mean, in four years there'll be another PlayStation. But I think if you're looking at investing in a place it should force them for this specific time frame of four years, it's probably not going to do it for you, yeah, especially if you're going to own a 4K television at some Some point in your life, I mean I don't think all that stuff is sort of crack up, worth it at this point. But there is a lot of content that's coming out in 4K on Playstation 4 pro. Some Some of it actually looks pretty damn good. If you think a 4K TV is going to be in your future and you're sort of weighing the pros and cons, I would maybe wait a little bit for a pro purchase. Maybe when it gets down to $300 even, because it's $400 right now. During the holidays right now you could probably get it for around 350. So yeah, I think the slim is maybe not the choice for right now. I mean it is very cheap, you can get a lot of mileage out of that, but maybe you have a lot more to think about if you're specifically aiming for that four year kind of sweet spot. Mm-hm. So- > Does the VR work with the Slim as well? It will yeah, the VR works with all the consoles. And if you use it with the pro, there are a couple of sort of fidelity improvement advantages you'll get. They're less more obvious than what you get on the actual pro with the standard games. So that is something to consider as well. Okay Another gaming question. People [CROSSTALK]. Let's do it. Let me dig in. Let me dig my feet in there. Very generic. They're just like, do I get a gaming PC or do I buy a console? I guess that's the eternal question. [LAUGH] Well, it depends on what you're looking for. If you're spending a couple hundred bucks on a gaming PC, you have a very. Large and seemingly infinite library of games to be able to play at your disposal. There's probably more sales right now on laptops and PC's too. Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't necessarily buy a laptop for gaming. But if you wanted to build like a thousand dollar PC, you would probably be very well served for, you know I'd say the next three to five years. So you're going to get a lot more mileage out of that. When you buy a console you ae locking yourself into a very kind of closed platform. I think PS4 does a better job of opening it's arms for more variety and games and what nots. But for me I kind of play everything I can on PC. So that hopefully answer the question. Yeah there is another question, I don't know Rick have you see any deals On Macbooks, I know black friday and cyber monday there was like so much, but people are wondering is this now a good time to buy a Macbook desktop.>>I think they mean an iMac Yeah I think that's what they mean.>> The Macbook Desktop.>>But even so I don't know if any Apple sales are hitting your I used to top one. [INAUDIBLE] You know any time I read about any Apple product at all. [LAUGH] But the response I get is and you call yourself a cheap skate? [LAUGH] Yeah. It's true. It doesn't fit right? They don't really go hand in hand. Yeah. So the one thing I do advice people always when you're shopping for Apple anything is to look For refurbs, and I mean specifically on the Apple site, in their barely, you can find it at the bottom, a little tiny link, a clearance page where they sell refurbished gear. The beauty of that, from Apple, is that everything you buy refurbished from them has a full one-year warranty, same as new. If it's a tablet or a phone, they give you a new battery, new outer casing, the whole thing. Right. So it's literally as good as new, but very often for 10, 15, even 20% less than new. So that's almost always gonna be your best bet for anything Apple. All right, that's not bad advice. All right [LAUGH]. Excellent. Thank you, very much. That is mediocre acceptable advice [LAUGH]. No, it's just a very tough thing to talk about. Absolutely, it is, yeah, and deals. Because when you talk about Apple and sales, you're talking about oil and vinegar. It's just not really a thing that meshes. All right, we have all of our top picks in our holiday buying guide. That's up on the site, please go check that out. For now, we're gonna take another break. But when we come back, we'll have more exclusives from Rick. We'll announce a few Spiro winners, and we're gonna talk toys. Because you like toys, you're just a big kid like us. Stick around, we'll be right back. [MUSIC] How are jurors selected? The answer may surprise you. I'm Dr, Jason Bourne. I'm not a lawyer. I'm an expert in what's called trial science. I study the jury's behavioural patterns. We know what theyre thinking from the beginning. Everything my team learns allows us to assemble a mirage All right, that's scary in it's predictive efficiency. We'll know what a jury's going to bring back. We'll know because that's what we do.>>Michael Weatherly is Bull, CBS, Tuesdays.>>[BLANK AUDIO] If you want change, be the change. [MUSIC] SWAT strength is in the pack. Hold him down, I'm on my way. We move as one. Sometimes following the rules and doing what's right isn't always the same thing. [MUSIC] SWAT is about saving lives. Are you cops? Metro squad. So like cops just cooler. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Hey welcome back to CNET's holiday buyers guide. Just use the hashtag CNETLIVE on twitter and remember if you want a chance to potentially be possibly, possibly, statistically speaking, one of the spear o mini robot winners that we are giving away. Only one time you can do that. Everyone gets one. All right, let's pivet over to [UNKNOWN] Yeah Rick I gotta ask you some more Questions like 12 more, like one question, you got any deal so that we can check out As a matter of fact, I do Good otherwise we are screwed Yeah [LAUGH] Cuz we need to fill this up I got a lot actually, we can crack some in here, first let's talk audio who's Spotify. Spotify users? Spotify? Yeah. Yeah, okay. So- What is it? You know Spotify? You get it for free. What do you mean I get it for, what is. [LAUGH] Whoa! Whoa. Whoa, what does that mean? Just because I steal doesn't mean you've got to drag my laundry out- No, I'm a Google Play guy. Okay, that's cool. I'm a weirdo. Yeah. Well, most people get Spotify and pay for it. Yeah. And if you're a Spotify user, here's something you've gotta have. Okay, does this remind you of anything? An iPod Shuffle. iPod Shuffle, a bunch of memory. Yeah. So this is called the Might. And this is actually a stand-alone, disconnected, although it does connect, but it's a stand-alone Spotify player. Only Spotify? Just Spotify. What do you mean only Spotify? Well [CROSSTALK] Only Spotify? Only all of the music ever? I don't know. The most popular streaming service? I still use pin Who? Pandora. There's Spotify now you can use that. That's adorable no but for grownups. Way to insult your hosts. So the mighty syncs with your Spotify account and all your playlists and everything. I think it holds up to 1,000 songs and so you sync it over and now you take it with you to the gym or you take it with you wherever and it has a little clip just like the shuffle did and simple controls and Bluetooth so it can pair wirelessly. But it also has a headphone jack because some people like that and so the deal normally the mighty sells for 86 bucks but There is a special link that will appear somewhere hopefully, if not it is on today's cheapstake post, you can find the link to this. It is 73 bucks and you just click through to that special My landing page. And you'll also get it for 73 bucks. Great gift. Yeah. [INAUDIBLE] process. Like you go to the gym and that falls on the tread mill, you don't mind that falling. [LAUGH] The phone falling, you're like no. Exactly. It's the Spotify experience without your phone, basically. All right. I have nothing bad. That sounds actually very useful. I feel like I'm waiting for something. No, I've got nothing in the tank. Somewhere. I think it's good. Actually, I've been talking to people. Everyone's talking about gifting Spotify. Like, gifting subscription services now. Cuz they don't know what else to give people. Right. And they're like, well. I can enhance your life or maybe if anyone wants to give to me a Spotify subscription clearly I couldn't use it. [LAUGH] It's true thoughtfulness is [CROSSTALK] We can only give away subscriptions [INAUDIBLE] [LAUGH] So if this Spotify user who has everything gets mighty. There you go. Which is also [INAUDIBLE] get mighty. [INAUDIBLE] what else is there? Okay, so we were talking about the PlayStation, so let's talk about a Blu-ray player, which is a thing, still, apparently. [LAUGH] Stand alone Blu-ray player. A stand-alone Blu-ray player, and this is LG Up870, and it's being offered by Dig, it's normally 110 bucks, but you get it for Lets see what are they giving that away for today. For 80 bucks with coupon code BluRayRick because why not. You got your own code. Not the only one too there is another one coming. So what is unique about this particular bluray player is that it is a 4K. So you bought a 4K TV and you are like where do I get content for this thing. Now you can get some 4K BluRay discs. Look at it, it's got a back. It's got a back. Look at this thing. Yeah. [LAUGH] God damn. It's got a front end, a back end, two sides. And if you need to make a phone call, it's okay. [LAUGH] Maybe it's ethernet. Lay off my joke guys, I'm trying to have some fun here. It just went over my head there. Now I don't still deal with physical medium myself. I don't know if you guys do. But apparently there is a lot of people who still like- I do. Disc. You know what it is, we were having this conversation on our podcast a couple days ago. I think there are still enough people For whatever reason Blu-ray has kind of resonated, maybe not in the same way DVD did. But people wanna own like The Criterion, and they wanna own like- They want their special features. You know the highest resolution possible. And It's better than streaming quality for the most part. Or has to be right? Sometimes there's content you can't get streaming. Right. Like I got the tick. The 90 series on DVD as a gift. And I'm like how do I play this? Cuz it's on disk. And I put it in my Blu-ray Player and it died cuz it was a playstation three. Which I never used. But then I had to buy a Blu-ray Player I'm like that's a good deal. Then why is the PlayStation is a Blu-Ray player. Right? Yes. The X box 1 would do 4k. Right. But the PS4 would not do 4k. So if you need a 4k Blu-Ray player, here's the chance to get one for, what do I say, 80 box? Yeah. That's pretty damn good. Yeah. Yeah two for two. We were like six for six. Alright one more before we got to toys and Bridget. So lets talk about power. Everybody needs a charger when they are on the road, right? So this one from RavPower it is It's the tower of power, right? It kind of looks like sort of like chunky verbal charger. But this one has a special feature. Wow. It has an outlet built in. Kind of cool. So this can act just like a 20,000 milliamp charger which is surprisingly compact. Can I see it? And suprisingly light. And it can actually power small appliances. Really? So you can actually plug just about anything- Your refrigerator? Not small appliances. It looks like a thermos. Yeah, and so it also has a regular smart USB port, of course. And a USB C. So if you have a type C laptop- Yeah. Yeah. You can charge it from that. It does quick charging? It does quick charge. It does all the things. And this is actually kind of a growing category now, I'm staring to see a lot more mobile chargers that have an outlet built in. Because sometimes you just don't have the right cord or whatever. This is great for people who are doing outdoor things, or even just Like storm prep. You know, you could take it camping with you, honestly. Yeah. And you like, you can even plug in a little fan, a little light, some sort of, whatever- Smart lights. Yeah. [LAUGH] Yeah, yeah the color changing kind. Right. Cuz if you're gonna be out there, at least make it look good. Yeah. Absolutely, so this is brand new and actually normally this is 80 bucks, which is a little pricey for a mobile charger, but again Outlet and with code, Rick code, just like a Rick code. It's $70 so it's not a huge savings but it's something and you know again pretty cool for a gift if you know somebody who is always looking for an outlet. Yeah I mean that's the thing, the outlet is really like the deal maker right here. That is so Freaking cool. Alright. Excellent. Bridget. Is it my turn? Let's talk about toys. Your desk is starting to look like [UNKNOWN] you might as well see what you have to hear about some of the coolest gifts for kids this holiday season. Yeah I have been digging the whole tech toy beat I got to say. And Have you seen these guys? No! Where did you? This is the hottest toy- Yeah? [SOUND] This is the hottest toy of the year right here. That's it? It's called Fingerlings. It's a monkey. I've even seen knock-offs already at the store already. Just like random 'Monkey for your finger'. [LAUGH] Fingerling, like potato. Fingerlings. And yeah, they're, they have all these motion sensors in them and every kid is going crazy for them. They retail for 15 bucks, it has sensors for like hearing you talk to it or kiss it. I just turned it off so it doesn't go crazy, but I feel like all the tech toys now are, I'll pass this along, are all about sensing your sound, your motions, and you talk to them. And getting rid of like the whole iPad and iPhone connected thing. It's just strange. Yeah, you turn him on, on the back there's a little switch. Does it scream if I get too wild? If I start? You know. Yeah, yeah. If you flip him like a. It will puke. Does it make a R2D2 wah sound, like a? [LAUGH] They have to license that. There's no way. Yeah. And. [INAUDIBLE]. Well, there's also. Okay, so there's another one, Lovabella? I don't know if yo'u've seen this baby doll robot. But it's a little bit on the woah side. I don't know, some people might say creepy. Yeah. But like so many. Creepy. So many ways to move and talk, and so. And remember how the Furby learned, you know, the more you played with it. Um-hm. This same thing starts talking more English the more you played with it. It senses all the accessories that you're gonna lose, like the baby bottle, like a pacifier. It knows when you bring it to her lips. Um-hm. And it has like five different places to tickle her. So yeah now it's all about like making it more and more realistic, you know that's- That's a freaking demon baby [LAUGH] I have seen a demon baby the gift you wanna give someone you hate. [LAUGH] It doesn't stop talking, a lot of this toys will just keep it on I tell you, you take the batteries out of that thing. [INAUDIBLE] It's still working. [LAUGH] That's uncanny valley right there. Does it's head spin around? I don't like how it's always surprused at everything. That was bothering me. Can we burn that footage? Hi, my name is Teddy Ruxpin. Do you remember this guy? He's back! He's got Screens in his eyes. He's got weird eyes. So another one that is like a classic 80s toy that came back this year, everyone's kind of going a little crazy with this one. I've seen it even sold for more on from eBay with people just trying to find him. He's normally $100. But they took the same exact stories from when I remember having teddy. And of course, they made him lighter. I don't want him. Because he's a cassette player. You don't want it? I don't want him. No, no, no. You don't want a little? [CROSSTALK]. [LAUGH]. It's bothering Rick. I don't know what to say. But they put animated eyes on him. And now everyeone was a kid back then has a kid again. And it's like, I got to have it for my kid. And I kind of fell, you know, in that trap a little bit myself. But yeah, Teddy. Teddy now is $100 Teddy's back Yeah you press his paws and he starts to sing He's got some big eyes, teddy does. Yeah, lots of My gosh Come join him My God [LAUGH] All right. [INAUDIBLE] Why is this the scary. I didn't realise this is like horror toys. I just turned him off. That's very good. There's a little bit. Yeah. That's more creepy. Halloween show next year. Now his eyes are all dialated. I never had a toy with empty eyes before. But there you go. That's the future for you. A little more fun though, a little more fun. That's scary. All right, last one. This is one of my favorites though. This is the new R2D2 from Sphero. I like that metal. And it's normally like $180, but like it's $100 now on the website. Wow. So what you do is you connect it with your phone. And this thing, if you can get it on the table here, it's so realistic with all the sounds If I just kind of set something to go off Look at him go. It even does one where if I think this is the one where like he kind of has a flip out moment. [LAUGH] Look at that He's got the leg that comes out everyone will want Is gonna love this thing. Cool. Whoa. Bye bye. [LAUGH] Look, he killed himself [CROSSTALK]. What can you say? No. [INAUDIBLE] [CROSSTALK] He's okay. [LAUGH] Good old R2. Numbskull. He'll be back for a sequel, I'll bet. That's right. He's seen worse. He's seen much worse. Boy. I think that's one's gonna be the hot one this holiday, that's for sure, with the movie. I guess he just wasn't liking the live show that much. [LAUGH] We have to take one last break, I promise it's the last break. But when we get back, we'll share a few more exclusive deals And announce more winners and give that little guy some CPR. [LAUGH] We'll be right back. [MUSIC] My daddy was always saying to me if you want things to change, get out there and be the change. [MUSIC] If anyone can bridge the gap between that community and the police it's you. [MUSIC] You and me we got this together. [MUSIC] S.W.A.T. Thursday or stream it live on demand. [BLANK_AUDIO] [UNKNOWN] You just saved a woman from being tortured. Okay, I'm gonna take you home. I'd call that a good night's work. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] You can run but you can't hide. [MUSIC] You make it back home. Make it back Come to us. We got this. Let's go. [SOUND] CBS Sundays. I have created the Hub, where people can submit and dissect evidence. When it comes to crimesolving- We've vett any evidence, and then put it up at the stroke of a key. A Million Minds. Real time, Crowdsourced crime solving. Are better than one. Better than one. [UNKNOWN] users, have you seen this man? Jeremy Piven. People wanna be a part of something meaningful. They're doing it on their own. Get back, police! You're under arrest. Wisdom of the Crowd, CBS Sundays. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Thursdays the brains behind The Big Bang Theory boldly go where they've never gone before! MOM Everybody excited to start school? I am. High school is a haven for higher learning Dear god When you're a nine year old genius Dear Yeah Growing up isn't an exact science I saw one boy with a tshirt that said bite me Yeah that's terrible Young sheldon. New comedy CBS thursdays [BLANK_AUDIO] [MUSIC] Alright, thanks for sticking with us. This is the last block of our live show. Thanks for being a part of this whole magic day. My name is Jeff Bacaklar, along with Creepy Kerry, Issac Gatagar, and C-Nets original cheap skate. The man who has literally never paid for anything his entire life, Mr. Royden. Laughter I didn't know that. That's a big accomplishment Mr. Royden. Alright so, we are going to want to announce The potential winners. [LAUGH] Soon. But first we got some deals I think. I 'd love to crank. Okay we got lots of bonus deals. This a big bonus deal day. So let's just get to these. So you talked about the echo dot earlier. Yeah. And if you pair it with a speaker, now the dot is suddenly like a full size. It's the whole smart home thing. Louder. So One speaker I have that would make a good match with the Echo Dot is this one from Damson Audio. And Damson is actually based in the UK, and they make some of the finer audio gear out there. So this is a portable bluetooth speaker, and as you can see it's kind of space edgy, it's very nice looking I think. And this would be just it's own As, this would be just as home on a bookshelf as it would be, like, something you take with you someplace, because it's portable. And the deal on the speaker, normally it's $90 but you can get it for a code that is TBD, I do not have the code, I'm sorry to say You have to guess You're going to So [UNKNOWN] something I am sure. It's going to be on your blog later. It will be. It will be [UNKNOWN] Just teasing the Cheapskate blog. That's right. THat's it. That's it. CNET.com/cheapskate. 67.50 will be the price for this $90.00 little speaker. So again, a great match with the Echo Dot. Nice gift item. Well speaking of Echo Dot I have just got to say sorry to Lewis on Twitter at chiefgutmaster. He says and during the show we keep activating his dot. [CROSSTALK] How many times we say the a word. No. Alexa. Alexa. Alexa, buy everything you sell. [LAUGH] Sorry. Cancel. Cancel order. Angry emails coming. Okay, what else you got? Okay, so Bridget, earlier you were talking about your. Phone and particularly what happens to your phone over the course of a given day. Life with a one and a half year old gets very interesting when you have a smartphone you're worried about. I just keep mine in a Ziploc bag. [LAUGH] Yeah, so as we've probably all Heard, or at least read, your phone picks up quite a lot of germs and other nasty stuff. It's full of poo. Yeah, everyone has poo particals in all their life, and they don't even realize it. That's different than full of poo, I mean. [LAUGH] I wonder how many angry things we'll get for that one. I'm just saying, look it up. Look it up, it's science. So what do you have So if you're concerned about phone poop, as you should be, this is called the phone soap and actually it's a big bar of soap right Saving the best one for last right? This is actually a shark tank thing and actually so this is a UV Coffin for your phone, you put your phone in and it disinfects it no, no In just ten minutes your phone's subdevice will kill all germs on your phone, I guess it is UV light This is UV light and you put it in you can charge your phone and you basically can give it a tan it is like a tanning bed for your phone- That would be so cool. Put it in. And it comes out a different color. All right. So normally, the phones run $60. And with code CNAP3, excuse me, CNAP10, you can get it for $42. So it's a pretty substantial discount. Thank you. > And actually, that code works sitewide. So at 30%, off, everything that [INAUDIBLE] offers right now. And if you're concerned about germs, and this time of year, the flu, it's going around. Put your phone in the phone soap and clean it. No, I would use it cuz- Okay. Would you? I would. Well, I actually disinfect my phone every day. How? It sounds It sounds like I'm a germophobe. But my kid is always putting her mouth on it and grabbing it. I wanna make sure she doesn't get sick. Okay. So I just. The little spray of alcohol. This is all for like a good cause, right? You're getting your phone clean and whatnot. Is there a phone germ epidemic? I guess are people getting sick? The [UNKNOWN] is gross man. I know like- You hear all the time your keyboard is dirtier than your toilet seat and your phone. The same thing. It sounds gross. It does. And if you have concerns about this- I have an immune system. Well we have immune systems. Don't be gross. No you are better off doing that then just You know, leaving it uncleansed. How many of you all use it on the toilet. We all know- Yeah but I don't like, okay. Better safe than sorry, better safe than sorry kind of thing, right? Totally I'm on board, I'm on board. You've got something that is Where'd that come from? Here we go. All right. This is not really a tech item, but- Hell, yeah, it is. I bet you could use a cup of coffee right about now. Yes. So if you like a single-serve cup, and you're not wild about the whole Keurig thing with the pods and the waste, and all of that, this is a Ninja single-serve coffee maker. It's the CF111, I believe. And over at, who does have this? Sorry this is Daily Steals. This is $100, I think it's priced even higher than that in most other places, but they have it at $70 with With code DS5 and it will you just it has a permanent filter you just put in a scoop of coffee put your mug down. Bloop you get your coffee. It froths the milk. and it has a milk frother which you know what I had never frothed any milk before but my wife is actually Maybe a convert. Like you put some froth milk on top of your coffee. really, really [UNKNOWN] with joy. [LAUGH] Alright man it is a thing. And the froth is just right there. That's cool. And it looks cool too. It has all the knobs and buttons. Which is we know indicative of a good product. Of course. Of course. I'm sending buttons. Yeah. So what are we looking at? How much? So that's just 70 box with the [INAUDIBLE], hang on. 70, am I right? It's dropping? It's less? 70 box. [LAUGH] But for a limited time, 69.99 just for you with code DS5 over daily steals. Okay. Very nice. Excellent. Pod waste. What's that? No pod waste. No pod waste. That is a huge epidemic. Yeah it is. Do we have time for one more? [LAUGH] Well you tell me. Do we have time? Yes we have time for one more deal. Okay let's talk home security a little bit. Okay. All right so These are going nuts right now. Everybody seems to want the home security camera, the Wi-Fi camera, and this is one of them, this is actually from a company called Foscam and this is the MCRAS Wi-Fi home security camera and it tilts, and it pivots, and it zooms, and it does the whole thing, and it can be controlled by your phone. Can send a live feed to your phone, or your tablet, or your computer, or what have you. And normally this guy is 60 bucks but with the code, that again will appear online because it's too weird me to say it, long and lots of letters and numbers, it knocks it down to 50 bucks. Okay. So a little bit of a savings here, and again The key take away here is that these cameras used to cost $100, $150, $200. And a lot of them still do. Right. But it can detect motion. And it can notify you is it senses anything. It can save video to the cloud. Kind of It kind of does all the things. It's 50 bucks, so to deploy them around the house, not too bad- Yeah, it's cheaper than Amazon's, everyone's going crazy with how cheap Amazon made their little cloud cam, so- Right. This one's cheaper than that. This one's cheaper than that. Cool. Yeah. Well, thanks Rick. We're giong to do one more check-in with Twitter. Let's hear from the fine people in the Twitter world. Wesley wants to know what's a good white elephant gift under $25.00? Hmm. I notie you are looking at me. Well I mean, I have never played white elephant. I liek my friends. It's like that hat we were talking about earlier. Where like you don't want to spend a lot but you know maybe you don't knwo if they'll like it or not. It's the one right here. The Bluetooth Beanie Yeah Is ultimate white elephant gift. Right. Right. Cause, wait so how does it work, like the last person who gets swapped with has to leave Everyone takes turns, goes picks a present, opens it up, if the next person in line, next person in the order likes that gift They steal it. And that's, no, it just cuts too deep, man. It's so fun. That's what they do at my house. Also known as Yankee Swap and has a bunch of other names, too. Yeah, yeah. I'm sure we can't say a lot of those names. [LAUGH] All right. There you go. Thank you so much for being a part of that Twitter conversation. Let's toss it to Iyaz. Who has some potential winners. That's right it's time for us to announce the potential winners of our sphero mini robot giveaway Do you need a drumroll No I think that was enough. That was good that did it.
