Welcome to the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster, a carbon-fiber plugin hybrid.
Let's check out all the tech inside this futuristic convertible.
The i8 uses an 8.8" entertainment screen running BMW's familiar iDrive software.
And they can never get by touching and swiping on the screen or by using this rotary controlling up down on the center console.
I actually find myself using the control now more often because it's also got the short-cut keys nearby it for jumping directly to things like the media or phone settings.
Then sent, the touchscreen functionality comes in extra handy when you're using the navigation.
You can use it to pinch to zoom on the map and swipe around just to find your destination.
As you'd expect, iDrive has satellite radio, AM/FM radio, and a USB port for connecting your own device to play music.
You can also pair your phone over bluetooth to play music or make phone calls, iDrive also supports Apple CarPlay although there's no support for Android Auto just yet.
Because this car is a plug-in hybrid, the menu structure also has additional features for things like scheduling your charge time when the car is plugged in overnight.
And there's a BMW connected drive menu with even more information like weather forecast while you're on the go.
The instrument cluster is a full color digital affair with lots of information about not just my speed, but also the battery state of charge and energy usage.
I've also got a color head up display for even more information while I'm driving.
Active safety technology is accessed by pushing this green ringed button on the dashboard, although as you can see, really all I have in this car is forward collision warning and breaking.
I'd really like blind spot monitoring, given how big the blind spots are in this sporty looking car.
That said, I've also got a surround view parking camera and parking sensors.
