Byton bringing ViacomCBS, Garmin and more to the dashboard
We're here on the eve of ces 2020 where the buyten mbyte Electric SUV has just made landfall in the States.
Now for most of the crowd gathered behind me this is their first time seeing the car in the flesh but longtime road show viewers will know that we got a peek at this car in production glory at the Frankfurt auto show last year and longtime readers that the roadshow com will know that I've actually already driven a production meal But I digress.
That's not what we're talking about today.
Today, the news is the big 48 inch screen in the dashboard and more specifically, what kind of software and services are going to power that big old display.
The first step buyten announced this office mode, a sort of productivity mode that allows people to get work done in their part car, and it includes things like video conferencing, think something like Skype, though.
buyten hasn't mentioned any sort of.
Partners specifically for that.
Next up there is a new partnership with Garmin that brings those fitness and wellness features that we've heard so much about leading up to this vehicles launched into the dashboard, integrating with Garmin line of fitness Monitors and software.
Now one of the biggest pieces of news was a new partnership with Viacom CBS to bring video content into the invites dashboard, allowing you to use that big old screen to watch movies and TV while you wait for your car to charge.
Full disclosure Viacom CBS is the parent company of road show and CNET.
But what this means is that drivers will be able to take advantage of things like Paramount Pictures movies, ViacomCBS's portfolio of tv content and more while they wait for their car to drive.
Of course that partnership mentioned earlier this year with electrifying American memes that 150ml charge up is only gonna take about thirty minutes, just enough time for an episode.
And finally Bangtan announced its buyten developer program, a sort of software development kit and best practices for third parties to help them bring their software and services into the invites dashboard.
And the first batch of partners has been announced with things like road travel, I could and AccuWeather Now buyten has been building the invite as a software platform on wheels saying that it has more in common with a mobile phone than it does with a car and this new batch of software updates and partnership help submit that claim.
Of course Tesla buttons biggest upcoming competitors also been experimenting with software in the dashboard bringing heavy hitters like Netflix.
It's Tesla arcade and a variety of streaming services to the dashboard.
The dashboard wars are about to heat up.
Let the games begin.
