>> Hi I'm Molly Wood and welcome to the Buzz Report. This week Facebook in trouble, huge Mac world news, and everything you ever wanted to know about yourself, you little narcissist you, but first the gadget of the week. The gadget of the week is the Cowon Q5W. It's another entrant into the growing market of things that do a lot of stuff. It runs Windows CE5, it has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi either 40 Gigs or 60 Gigs of storage capacity, it has GPS capability and optional cradle, so you can use it in the car, it's got inputs galore and you can easily output to a TV, nice big screens supports just about every media format under the sun. Cost either 550 or 600 bucks and you definitely needed a few, well okay, let's see here. You probably already have a laptop, a GPS device phone and MP3 player, but you still need this, because it's awesome and it's new. And now for the news. Facebook is still in hot water over it's controversial Beacon advertising program, which would track your shopping and partnersize and then display your purchases in your newsfeed without your permission in some cases. Users have complained that the feature violates their privacy and has already ruined several holiday surprises, boo. Facebook eventually responded to criticism and has now made the program opt in only, but it's a little too late for some advertisers. Travelocity, overstock.com and Coca-Cola have all said that they will not participate in the Beacon program for now. I mean, it was fun when like they didn't think you knew that it was violating your privacy. But now that you know, it's just really not that cool anymore. The company that puts on the annual Mac World Expo has officially announced that Steve Jobs will deliver the keynote address to open the show. In other news Bears officially seals in the woods. A new site launched this week called 23andMe, which lets you send DNA sample of your DNA by spitting into this tube for apparently a really long time then you send in a thousand bucks and eventually you get access to your entire genetic history and all your predispositions. You can find out stuff like your risk of diabetes or Crohn's disease, whether you like Brussels sprouts or whether you can smell asparagus in your pee. It's an unbelievable amount to incredibly personal information. All available in one searchable database, in fact one of the major investors in the company is Google, organizer of the world's information. So, I think we can safely assume that in the future everyone will know whether you can smell asparagus in your pee. And now it's time to find out what's clogging the tubes. This week it's the writer's strike. It's gone internet. Striking writers and their supporters are making various videos to muster up support for their cause. There's the Not The Daily Show video from The Daily Show writers and the Steve Corbett writers take off a media exact doing of Videologblog kind-of-thing, hilarious. And then this week all the cute critters of the YouTube world have gone on strike in support of the writers.
