Do you take your coffee with cream and Wi-Fi?
I am Bridget Carey and this is your CNET Update.
Does your coffee maker need an internet connection?
Well, Philips thinks so.
The company introduced several new home gadgets that are connected to your home network including a coffee machine that takes orders from an IPad app.
There's also the HomeCooker Next which can download cooking instructions to properly roast, steam, and saute your dish.
Those two are just concepts, but next year, Philips will be shipping an air purifier that can be controlled from your smartphone as well as a baby monitor that goes beyond Wi-Fi with a 3G internet connection.
And if you think 3D printers are cool, wait until you see this.
At the IFA tech show in Berlin, CNET got an up-close look at the 3Doodler, a pen that pushes out heated plastic which quickly cools, and if you're crafty, you can make some interesting sculptures or fun doodles.
It costs
$100 and the company is taking pre-orders for the unit which is expected to ship in February.
Reports are coming out about Microsoft's next version of the Surface tablet and how a new keyboard cover will have a built-in battery.
Microsoft officials have dropped hints about this before and we're hearing the same thing again from other Windows blogs with sources saying that charging covers are in the works.
There's just no word yet on how much of a battery boost this will provide.
The cheaper Surface RT gets about
seven to eight hours of battery life and the Surface Pro with full Windows 8 lasts about four or five hours.
More details are coming in about Samsung's Galaxy Gear.
The smartwatch will arrive in the US in early October, the same time as the Galaxy Note 3 phone.
T-Mobile is launching the devices on October 2nd.
AT&T's pre-order page says it will ship around October 1st.
And Verizon is shipping on October 10th.
The large Note 3 smartphone and the Gear smartwatch both cost
$300 each.
The phone, of course, is priced with a contract, and that launch, the smartwatch will only work with the Note 3. Samsung said that, in time, other Galaxy devices will be compatible with Gear.
It won't be long before Apple reveals the next versions of the iPhone.
On Tuesday, we are expecting to see a high-end iPhone that's a slight upgrade from last year's model as well as a lower cost model that's made of plastic instead of aluminum.
And we'll get the official release date of the new iOS 7. You can follow
the press conference live Tuesday on CNET with pre-show commentary from our editors beginning at 9 a.m.
Pacific Time, noon Eastern.
