Boot directly to the desktop in Windows 8.1
Did you think Windows 8 was great?
Probably not-- if you're one of those people who thought it stunk, Windows 8.1 improves the operating system in nearly every way possible.
One of the most talked about changes is the ability to now boot directly into the desktop, allowing you to avoid that clutter and complicated Start menu.
This can be done by entering Desktop mode and right-clicking on the Windows task bar.
Next, select Properties, click on the Navigation tab, and check the box that
reads "Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in." Now, the next time when you turn on your system, you'll go straight to the desktop without ever seeing the Start screen.
Windows 8.1 is available as a free download for Windows 8 users in the Windows store.
