Bollinger B1 and B2 are 614-horsepower electric beasts
It's been two years since Ballinger hit the scene showing off a prototype version of the rugged be one electric SUV, which was followed up by the BT pickup truck.
But the Michigan based electric vehicle startup is once again making headlines with the introduction of the new next level prototypes that boasts a slew of new components, including motors, inverters and battery But the biggest news comes on the drive train front.
They all the drive B1 and B2 are powered by a pair electric motors, with one place on each axle, that combined to deliver 614 horsepower and 668 pound feet of torque.
All that power is routed to the wheels through a two speed gearbox.
And should be plenty of muscle for both on and off road needs.
Ballinger says the electric drive train is good to get the B one and B to 60 miles per hour and 4.5 seconds, a top speed of 100 miles per hour and provide a 7500 pound tow capacity.
The motors draw power from 120 kilowatt hour battery pack that the company believes will return an EPA estimated driving range of 200 miles As recharge times, it's 10 hours on a tune in 20 volt level to supply, and semi 5 minutes on a level 3 dc fast charger, you'll be able to charge it on a normal household plug too, but, that will likely require an eternity.
Unchanged are the really, really boxy looks of the all women and body bolengure pair, giving them a seriously tough appearance that surely borrows some inspiration from the landrover defender.
Both offer 15 inches of ground clearance 10 inches of real travel 52 degrees of approach angle and right on media tires to up offer prowess.
When exploring the B one and B to cabins can be opened up a lot with roof panels, doors and windshield that are all removable for the times when the weather isn't cooperating grass roof panels will be available to keep things light in areas And B ones case unlike earlier prototypes, they were two doors the latest one has for allowing access to the four passenger interior it'd be able to carry quite a bit of stuff with a 14 cubic feet front and a patented pass through into the cabin letting owners carry longer items like say 42 by 4's.
All in with the rear seats removed the beat one has 113 cubic feet of cargo space.
For those looking to carry even more stuff to be too likely will be more their speed.
In addition to the front and pass through the pickup offers of five foot nine inch bed that can grow to eight feet two inches, with a flip down cab wall open rear window flipped up and rear seats removed.
That volunteer says can you accommodate 72 sheets of four by eight plywood?
From here Ballinger says the next step is building design verification vehicles during the first half of 2020, putting it another step closer to production.
Right now plants are called the first year production to be limited to 1000 trucks total mix between B one and B twos with deliveries stared to begin in early 2021.
No pricing details are available just yet.
But those and news about manufacturing partner will come later this fall.
