AutoComplete: LED matrix headlights could be greenlit in the US

Here's what's making news on Roadshow. The U.S. has a history of shunning new more effective headlight technology, dating way back to the sealed beam versus capsule bulb problems of decades past. But that might change with NHTSA now considering legalizing LED active matrix headlights. Which are available on some European and Japanese cars. These lights can selectively dim part of their light pattern to offer plenty of light for seeing, without dazzling oncoming traffic. We now know that Mercedes GLE plug-in hybrid SUV will do an impressive 62 miles on battery power alone, according to the European WLTP test cycle. EPA ratings may be lower, and they usually are, but it's tough to think of a PHEV that will go further on just electrons. GLE is expected to hit showrooms next year. You know what's pretty much no fun at all? Getting an electrical shock or dealing with an electrical fire. But both of those are things that might happen with the turbo cord charger that was included with around 3500 BMW and mini [UNKNOWN] and electrical vehicles thanks to faulty capacitors.
