Honda's Clarity EV is about to come up short, literally.
The company's forthcoming pure electric will only have 80 miles of range, that's well shy of older models like the Nissan Leaf and it's only around a third of the Chevy Bolt EV's 238 mile range.
Blame Honda's need to use the clarity fuel cell model's architecture and keep the car affordable.
Looks like its larger size with be this EV's main selling point.
NIO is making a play for the title of world's fastest autonomous car.
The Shanghai based start up's new EP9 electric supercar just blitzed Austin's Circuit of the Americas.
And not only did it set a record for the quickest production car lap time, it set one for the quickest driverless lap too.
With nobody at the wheel the EP9 laps Cota in 2:40 hitting 160 miles an hour along the way.
With the driver it did it in 2:11 and hit 170.
Now all the EP9 actually has to do is go into production.
Your next car may unlock by tapping a smartphone on it's door handle.
Chipmaker NXP says it's partnered with five automakers to leverage Near Field Communications tech that's already present in most smart phones.
NXP won't say who the five companies are but they have confirmed Mercedes' E class uses their tech.
NXP says NFC even enables single-used keys, which sounds ideal for ride sharing.
