We already reviewed August first generation's smart lock and really loved it, but this second gen model right here is even better, complete with home kit, a new face plate design with a built-in magnet, and a new turn dial that makes it easier to grip and move.
This is a really awesome smart lock, probably our favorite one to date.
So you still get all of the same great features as before, all of the Bluetooth, auto lock,, unlock features from the Android or iPhone app are still there and still work great, but this second gen model also has home kit which means it works with Apple, Siri based platforms, so if you wanna ask Siri to lock or unlock your door Unlock the front door.
(mmm)
Okay the front door in unlocked.
You can.
It works really well.
If you want to do remote Siri access, you could just use your 3rd gen or newer Apple TV to access your WiFi bridge, so you get Bluetooth from the lock and WiFi from the Apple TV without even needing to buy the $80 Next accessory.
So even if you don't care about Apple at all, this is still a significant upgrade, in terms of design, and you can always create a wi-fi bridge with either the connect accessory or the new doorbell cam.
