-Hey, I'm Donald Bell for CNET.com, and today, we're taking a first look at the ARCHOS 101 internet tablet.
This is an Android-based internet tablet with a 10-inch capacitive screen.
It's running Android version 2.2 and it's not one of these official Android, like, Google-sanctioned tablets where you're gonna get the-- the official Google Market Place or some of the Google Mobile Suite apps.
But ARCHOS has spent a lot of time working around those restrictions.
So, you get-- you
get an app store.
It's the ARCHOS brand AppsLib store.
You get a lot of the features you're gonna love in Android.
We're gonna be interested to see how the apps actually scale from the 10-inch screen 'cause it is such a large screen.
A lot of the tablets we've been seeing up to now have only really tried to get to that 7-inch range.
They're coming in 2 capacities: you have an 8 capac-- 8-gigabyte capacity for $299 and a 16-gigabyte capacity for $349.
You also get a micro SD memory expansion.
There's some other cool ports here on the
You've got your power switch, volume rocker, a USB host port, and an HDMI port.
You can actually play HD-quality video playback on this and get HD-quality video out from this.
Another cool little feature that ARCHOS in particular has been good about putting on their products is a kickstand.
So, if you're feeling like this 10-inch frame is-- is too heavy for you, you can always get out the kickstand, prop it up, and then watch movies that way.
The ARCHOS 101 internet tablet is available now.
I'm actually pretty impressed by how thin and light they've been able to get this.
I think Android fans are gonna have a lot of fun tinkering around with getting Android apps on a 10-inch screen.
