If you have an old tablet lying around here are three easy ways to get some use out of it again.
Turn it into a second display for your computer.
Download the iDisplay app for Android or IOS, which costs around $15.
Then connect it to your computer over USB or WiFi to extend the view of your screen and use touch controls from the tablet.
Repurpose the tablet as a digital photo frame, plug in a charger and download live frame for iPad or Dayframe for Android.
These apps pull photos from places like Facebook, Google Photos or your gallery and present them in a slide show Use it as a remote.
You could install smart tv or smart phone apps on the tablet depending on what devices you want to control.
Or if you have a Google Chrome cast you can cast content to a tv to Netflix, Hulu, YouTube or many other streaming services right from the tablet.
