2021 BMW 4 Series: More than just a giant grille
From its turbocharged engines to its robust cabin tech, there are a lot of reasons to like the 2021 BMW four series, but the one thing everyone's gonna get hung up on that huge huge grille.
Yes, the new four series has the enlarge kidneys we first saw on the BMW concept for show car, as well as the electric eye for sedan.
It's definitely a lot And I don't really like it at least in photos.
It's even worse with a big old front plate smack dab in the middle.
Thankfully, the rest of the four series looks pretty good with a sloping roof line not unlike that of the larger eight series.
The four series is slightly longer, wider and taller than its predecessor.
You can get it with 18 or 19 inch wheels depending on the model.
The 430 high will come with BMW two liter turbocharged in line for engine with 255 horsepower and 294 Four pound feet of torque.
rear wheel drive is standard but BMWs x drive all wheel drive is optional and the company estimates the 430 I will be able to accelerate to 60 miles per hour in as little as 5.3 seconds.
Sadly the four series loses its manual transmission option with this generation.
So all models get an eight speed automatic If it's more power you seek then you'll want the M 440 I, which is only available with all wheel drive.
This version gets a turbocharged three liter inline six with 382 horsepower and 364 pound feet of torque and a zero to 60 times of 4.3 seconds.
The three liter Isaac's gets mild hybrid tech as well with a 48 volt starter generator that not only gives the M 440.
A little electric boost during acceleration, but it allows the stop start system to shut the engine off below nine miles per hour.
The four series will get the same hydraulic lift shock absorbers as the three Series Sedan, which should give the coop a comfortable and controlled ride.
The forest series also comes with a whole bunch of driver assistance features, including the optional traffic jam assist, which is great for highway can use.
Inside the four series has an optional 12.3 inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.2 inch center touchscreen, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all standard.
Look for the 2021 BMW four series to hit dealers this October with prices starting at $46,595 for the 430i and $59,495 for the M440i.
Including 995 for destination that will put the four series nicely in line with its key competitors.
The Audi A five and s five and Mercedes Benz is C 300 and AMG c 43 coupes.
BMW will launch convertible and grand coupe versions of the four series in due time and we'll get a higher performance m four as well.
For now head on over to the roadshow comm for more details of the new BMW four series, as well as the spec comparison to see how it stacks up against its rivals.
