Urbanears Plattan headphones
>> Headphones come in just about every permutation you can imagine from the uber-stylish [assumed spelling] to the cutesies [assumed spelling] to the downright absurd, but fashionable models have been turning more than a few heads lately thanks to Monster's highly visible Dr. Dre brand in mind. In this case we're talking about something a little different and probably even a little more appealing to most people. Urbanears is a brand new line of headphone that focuses on low key designs with a stylish edge and this is immediately apparent in the Plattan headphones I have right here. This model comes in a striking array of 14 color options including three shades of blue and the charmingly titled salad green version. The design of the headphones is on-ear with a compact ear cup designed to rest on top of the outer ear. The padding inside helps the fit but we had mixed feedback regarding their comfort. The ear cups are adjustable via the slick metal loop on the side of the headband which is coated in cloth and slightly padded for comfort. The single cable which descends from the left ear cup is also coated in fabric and nice and thick. There's even an integrated module with a mic and call answer button for music phones--a nice inclusion considering the relatively low price of $59. Still these headphones sound inexpensive. The bass is mushy and overpowering which causes most music to sound muddy and muffled. These aren't the best option for discerning listeners. I'm Jasmine France for CNET and this has been a First Look at the Urbanears Plattan headphones.
