Switching from one mobile platform to another should be as easy as one, two, three, but that's not the case with Apple.
Numerous users have reported that after leaving their iPhones for a Windows or Android device they are no longer receiving text messages.
I'm Dan Graziano and I'm going to share with you three easy ways that can help you fix this problem.
If you're thinking about switching or haven't gotten rid of your iPhone, simply power it on, go to settings, click on messages, and disable iMessage.
If the iPhone is still activated, I suggest sending a normal text message to one of your friends to ensure that iMessage was switched off properly.
If you have already sold or traded in your iPhone for a new device, head over to Apple's website and reset your Apple ID password.
Instead of logging back into your account, send a text message with the word STOP to 48369 from your new Android or Windows phone device.
This method may not be instant.
Some users who have found success using it have said that it could take up to 12 hours before texts begin to trickle in, so be patient.
If you have tried one or both of these methods with no success, I recommend calling 1-800-MY-APPLE, and having a technician manually de-register your phone number from Apple's servers.
