The Lenovo Yoga Tablets and their unique cylindrical designs
This is Eric Franklin from CNET.com.
And today I'm taking a first look at the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 and 10.
They're coming October 30th in both in 8-inch and 10-inch configuration.
The Lenovo Yoga tablet 8 and 10 are 8 and 10-inch tablets running Android 4.2.2.
These tablets feature a unique cylindrical design at one end similar to previous tablets in Sony's Xperia line.
There's also an aluminum kickstand that allows you to stand the tablets up or lay them down and make them easier to type on.
The back is polycarbonate.
And overall the tablet feels pretty well-built.
The power button is large and easy to find but also flush to reduce the change you'll accidentally press it.
Lenovo says the batteries in each tablet should last 50 percent longer than any other tablet on the market, which is saying something as tablets on the market can last up to 13 hours
Lenovo outfitted the Yogas with batteries usually designed for laptops so it'll be interesting to see how long they actually last.
There's the micro USB port for charging a 1.6-megapixel front camera and the 5-megapixel back camera.
There's micro SD storage expansion, a headphone jack and a volume rocker.
This [unk] feature IPS panels and 1280x800 resolutions, pretty low by today's standards especially on the 10-inch but it looked fine on the
And in order to further differentiate the tablets from others, Lenovo added a media shortcut menu called Smart Wire that pretty much does what you'd imagine a media shortcut menu to do.
There are Dolby Digital Plus DS1 front-facing speakers that sounded fine after a listening for a brief time.
But it remains to be seeing if you're actually anything special.
The Yoga tablet 8 ships for $249 with
16 gigabytes of storage and then 10-inch cost $299 for 16 gigabytes storage.
Look for more information soon.
