Tekzilla Daily: Speed up downloads in FirefoxIf you're confident in your browsing and downloading habits, Firefox's auto scanner can add unnecessary lag to your downloads. Veronica shows you how to turn it off, saving you precious time.
[ Music ] ^M00:00:06 >> Hey everyone, welcome to Tekzilla Daily. I'm Veronica Belmont. Today's Firefox tip comes courtesy of Eddie [assumed spelling] out in Santa Ana, California. He writes, I know I'm not the only one who doesn't really like Firefox 3's file scanner for downloads and I thought I'd share how to turn it off. Just go to About column config page and type browser.download.manager.scan when done and double click the true value. Thanks Eddie. However, just to restate the obvious, remember that this means your files will not be checked once you've downloaded them. So, if you follow Eddie's advise make sure to take adequate precautions before you download something you're not 100% sure of. Got a tip for us to pass along to the rest of the TZ crew, e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org and as always, tekzilla.com, it's "the place" to find more tips, tricks, product reviews and how-tos. ^M00:00:54
