CNET First Look
Sony Mylo 2The Sony Mylo Communicator 2 is a huge improvement over its predecessor, but the Wi-Fi handheld will have a hard time competing with the similarly priced and better featured iPhones, Sidekicks, and Helio Oceans of the cellular world.
^B00:00:00 [ Music ] >> Hi. I'm Bonnie Cha, senior editor at CNET.com and today we're taking a First Look at the Sony Mylo Communicator 2. This is a wireless handheld, basically targeted at around 14 to 22 year olds. It's got some nice stuff for that age group. It's got IM. It's got some popular clients like Yahoo and AIM. And it's also got a great web browser with support for social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook. It's also got a media player for videos and music as well. And also, now you've got a 1.3 megapixel camera on the back. It doesn't record video at this time, but this is a nice addition, so... Overall it's a really good improvement over the first Mylo, but I have some major reservations about this handheld. It doesn't have cellular technology. You can VOIP calls, but you can't make cellular calls, and I just don't really see a reason for this kind of device right now. It's $300.00, and for that price you can get, you know, a Helio Ocean or a Sidekick. So I think, you know, that's the better way to go. You're gonna get more for your money. But I think for some people it will be good just for instant messaging and web browsing. It's available now, and this has been your First Look at the Sony Mylo Communicator 2. ^M00:01:10
