[ background music ] >> Hi I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Samsung SCHU540. This is a new phone for Verizon wireless service. It is an eVideo phone so it does come equipped with V-Cast and Verizon's V-Cast music service. Didn't think the design really complemented the feature set though, thought the design was a little dull, kind of plain, not really that exciting. Has a basic silver front, basic flip phone form factor. It is pretty thin, of course not as thin as some of the real extreme phones out there, but it is pretty thin nonetheless, Samsung's very obsessed with that. [inaudible] here, there is no flash, but the external display will act as a self portrait mirror. You have stereo speakers, which is a nice touch, have external music controls here on this side. If you hold down that play button it will activate the music player, and then you can use the fast forward and rewind keys to jump around your song list. Open up the phone, inside you'll find a nice display. Pretty large actually, pretty decent for viewing videos, graphics, games, anything like that. Navigation controls are okay, they are very big as you can see. They are flat with the surface of the phone, so again, you might have a little trouble using them by feel. Not very slick though, which is nice. And again, they're very big. [ background music ] Overall kind of a dull phone, but it does have a pretty good feature set, with eVideo compatibility, Bluetooth, and a megapixel camera. I'm Kent German, and this is the Samsung SCHU540. ^M00:01:10 [ music ]
