Samsung Gear VR is still my favorite way to use VR because it's smallGear VR now connects with the Note 7. It's still pretty similar to what it was before, but it's also the best way to get VR on the go.
I've used every type of VR possible. The small and cheap, big and amazing. The Gear VR is my favorite spot in the middle. You can buy bigger and better VR now that connects to your PC. Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, and there's the PlayStation VR coming later this year. But nothing connected to a phone looks better than Gear VR looks now. The new snap on headset that came with the Note 7, is basically the same deal as before. It works with a USBC Note 7 and also as a swappable micro USB connector. Plus some older phones going back to the S6 can work with it. You need a Samsung phone And it has other restrictions too that are different than the PC VR you might be used to. You can't move your head in and out of space or connect motion sensing controllers like you're on a holo deck. But you can use a Bluetooth game controller, tilt your head around, and play dozens of fun games or watch countless 360 videos. The Oculus Store for Gear VR keeps growing, with apps that are getting better every week. Minecraft is the biggest, most brand-name hit, but you'll find other surprises, too. The only problem is Gear VR isn't cross-compatible with Google Cardboard or the upcoming Google Daydream VR platform that might feel a lot like your VR does now. For its price and what it delivers and how portable it is, GearVR still feels like the best way to casually grab a taste of VR in 2016. [MUSIC]
