But it does sometimes pay to actually come to the stores, wait in line, and bear the cold. You get some great 2-day deals, 1-day deals, or even better 6-hour specials. Then it all becomes worth it. >> The hot items for this Black Friday is probably a laptop that we had for 299. We also had a 42 inch LCD for 799 I believe: pretty much half price. We also have a lot of cameras on sale under $100. We have MP3 players under $60. >> Kara Tsuboi: Great sales like that is the reason why 3 hours after the San Francisco Bay area Circuit City opened, people were still waiting in line to get in. >> It's been pretty, pretty crazy. We've had people lining up since 5pm yesterday: a lot of tents and BBQs outside. >> Kara Tsuboi: And once inside, shoppers still had to wait in more lines for the big ticket items like TVs. >> Kara Tsuboi: Which one are you after? >> The 32 inch Sharp. >> Kara Tsuboi: So it's very possible they're all sold out? >> It's possible. It's possible. >> Kara Tsuboi: You go home with 2 DVDs then. >> 2 DVD's [ laughter ]. >> Kara Tsuboi: Is this the TV you're looking to buy? >> Actually I want this one, but I think this is the last one. >> Kara Tsuboi: Are you guys after the same television? >> No, fortunately. [ Laughter ] >> That's the first I ask [inaudible]. >> No. >> Kara Tsuboi: So the friendship can be saved? >> Yes. >> Kara Tsuboi: Now are these Christmas gifts you're buying or are they just -- >> Self gifts. [ Laughter ] >> Kara Tsuboi: Why are you here today? >> Because my mom wants to buy a TV. >> Kara Tsuboi: Sam Louie [assumed spelling] admits he doesn't really need a new TV, but the deals are too great to pass up. >> I really don't need a new TV but if I get one at a low price, that's fine. If I don't, worse things have happened. >> Kara Tsuboi: As far as what the kids are after, well there's really only one gift they want to see under the tree from Santa this year. >> A Wii. >> PlayStation 3. >> I want an Xbox 360. >> I would like the Xbox 360 with the game Halo 3. >> Kara Tsuboi: That's a big, big ticket item. Do you think you're going to get it? >> No. >> Kara Tsuboi: Some analysts are expecting this year's black Friday to be one of the sluggish in recent years. But optimism reigns at this Circuit City store where employees say there's always room under the tree for a tech gift. >> Kara Tsuboi: What is on your wish list? >> I have a couple of things, some softwares and toys and what not. But I think what I would like is an iPod Nano. So if anyone's watching you can get me an iPod 4 gigabyte please? >> Kara Tsuboi: Controlled chaos is the name of the game at this Circuit City. Nearly 80 employees are going to be working literally from sun-up at 5 am to well over sundown at 10 pm to help manage your holiday purchases.
