Push Gmail on your iPhoneGet push Gmail on your iPhone like on the BlackBerry, as well as sync your calendar and contacts with Google's services.
>> As a former Blackberry user, my most missed feature was of course, push Gmail. That's where the server automatically pushes your email to you, the moment it hits the server, rather than you waiting for your email client to retrieve it. I'm Wilson Tanion [assumed spelling], here's a way to get pushed Gmail, back on your iPhone, plus an extra side benefit. You can sync your Google Calendar and Google Contacts. ^M00:00:20 [ music ] ^M00:00:30 First, be sure to have the very latest version of the iPhone OS or at minimum, iPhone OS version 3.0. To begin, go into Settings. Then select, Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Tap, Add an Account. You're probably used to selecting, Gmail, but rather than that select, Microsoft Exchange. In the email field, enter your full Google account email address. Leave the domain field blank and then the username field, enter your full Gmail address and then your Gmail password. Hit, Next. If an, Unable to Verify Certificate, dialog box appears, press Accept. Finally, where it says, Server, type in all lowercase, m.google.com and tap Next again. You'll be allowed to select which services you'd like to sync. Of course mail should be turned on if you want push Gmail. However, you can leave Contact and Calendars off. If you choose to keep them on, your iPhone will ask you if you want to delete your existing contacts, probably not, for address book and calendar, whenever you make a change. You won't have to connect your iPhone to a computer anymore to sync your contacts and calendars and as long as you use Google services. Once you're done, you've got push Gmail, plus sync calendars and contacts. Enjoy. ^M00:01:48 [ music ]
