Panasonic's dumb plasma TV is a smart buy
-- David Katzmaier here from CNET and I'm pleased that Panasonic TCP fifty -- fifty.
This is out Panasonic's fifty inch plasma TV the cheapest 1080 TV Panasonic's line up for 2012.
That means it doesn't have 3-D or Smart TV does have one really nice thing.
Excellent picture quality.
On the downside is that it only villainous fifty inch size so there isn't a 42 -- five to speak of -- if you're.
Looking for a fifty inch TV you don't wanna spend too much money this one is one of the best you can buy right now.
Design wise do you fifty is relatively generic there's a glossy black frame around the edges that's not too -- not too thick.
Seen from the side TV is also about 3.3 inches -- so again.
Not too fat Nazis -- the whole thing is pretty nondescript -- Panasonic does -- -- a slow -- strip along the bottom.
Feature wise it's not much to speak up -- 1080. TV is a little bit more expensive than Panasonic's 720.
The company also throws in a photo and music viewer you can actually put an SD card reference to the camera into the -- CD which is.
An option is -- -- -- -- that's pretty convenient.
Another downside is such -- level TV is sparse and that's -- is only two HDMI.
As one component video processors composite video and that's about it -- the a lot of devices connect to recommend picking up a cheap HDMI switch really AV receiver it's little more hassle that you could universal remote you can make it work seamlessly.
Steve fifty is also sparse on picture settings is just a couple of modes and not really much you can do with them on -- the cinema -- actually --
Very good presets -- we really enough to do much to improve its picture quality.
The picture quality is very good once -- set up and cinema mode the real upside here is the deep deep black levels when you turn out the lights the screen it's really key in fact it's as good as.
Any Panasonic but he regardless of price except for the -- -- that's -- -- we've seen this year and also not as pretty much anything -- its price range of pleasing that nice deep black.
Color was very accurate and we also appreciated plasmas off angle and uniformity characteristics basically perfect.
On the downside is the screen finish on this set on the -- lights it really does washed out quite a bit.
So -- can afford to step up to little more expensive TV with a better screen finish it might be worth it.
That's a quick look at Panasonic's TCP DU fifteen on -- patent.
