My name is Lori Grunin, senior editor for CNET, and this is the Olympus E-PL2.
Olympus is announcing E-PL2 here at CES, and it's the followup, as you might guess, to the E-PL1.
In a lot of ways, it's very similar.
It's the same sensor.
It's the same image processing.
They have pushed the ISO sensitivity up one stop to ISO 6400.
But other than that, the insides are pretty much the same.
However, both, in terms of the cosmetics and the layout, it's different and I like it better.
It's all black instead of black and silver which I think is a little more attractive.
And with it, Olympus is announcing new kit lens.
It's the same 14-42 mm focal length.
But it's one of their new MSC lenses which means it's designed to be used for shooting video.
Other design changes that Olympus made in the body are they moved away from the 4-switch navigation to a scrolling dial which I'd like much better.
If you have vision issues or larger fingers, the buttons are smaller and because they are not silver, they're a little more difficult to see.
So that's something to keep in mind.
The other change from E-PL2 is it has a much bigger display, much bigger.
It's 3 inches compared to 2.7 but it's so much nicer display.
It's high resolution and you get much better view.
Olympus has also updated its connector.
It doesn't have an optical view finder.
It uses the same EVF that Olympus offers for its other cameras.
A few small changes, Olympus has added a new art filter, dramatic tone, and also they've expanded the capabilities of the guide mode which is there, you know, easy way to set things mode.
So that it now works with video shooting, but the video capability is 720p motion JPEG AVI; thus, remaining the same.
So if you can live with the lower resolution LCD and the older EVF connector and things like that,
you may wanna try to find and E-PL1 at a good price rather than waiting for this to come out.
But, you know, the nicer LCD and the different design and I think the more elegant design maybe worth it too.
In which case, you can get it later this month.
I'm Lori Grunin and this is the Olympus E-PL2.
