NASA-designed plane could replace the 737NASA has unveiled a next-gen plane, designed to cut emissions, sound and fuel consumption. The agency has partnered with Boeing and others for the project nicknamed SUGAR, or subsonic ultra green aircraft research.
[MUSIC] Graphically cutting fuel consumption, cutting noise and cutting emission. [MUSIC] And this is really an airplane that is designed, To replace a Boeing 737 or an Airbus A320. [MUSIC] The fuel consumption on this airplane is less than half that of today's Boeing 737, and it is quieter By a factor of almost six. [MUSIC] So how do you strengthen these long wings? You use a truss to kind of brace the wing and take some of the load. [MUSIC]
