I'm Nicole Lee, Senior Associate Editor for cnet.com and this is a first look at the LG Cosmos 2 for Verizon Wireless.
It is a simple entry-level messaging phone.
On the front here is a simple 2-inch color display here.
You also get a roomy number keypad, as you can see here.
On the back is a 1.3-megapixel camera lens.
The Cosmos 2 slide sideways
to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard.
In this landscape mode, the two keys on the side of the display become the two soft keys.
The keyboard as you can see here is quite roomy.
There's a dedicated row just for the numbers and all row of all keys are raised above the surface for easy texting and dialing.
The keyboard also has dedicated keys for the social networking function and a favorite's function.
Features of the Cosmos 2 are fairly basic.
You do get the usual text
and multimedia messaging functions, of course.
You also get instant messaging and mobile e-mail.
Verizon and LG wants you to use this phone as a social networking tool as well because they have included a few shortcuts to Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace.
So, those shortcuts are just text messaging shortcuts.
They're not full-pledge applications.
The LG Cosmos 2 is an entry-level messaging phone at an entry-level price.
It's only free with the new two-year service agreement.
