Lenovo IdeaPad Y530

>> Hi, I'm Michelle Thatcher, Senior Associate Editor for CNET.com. And today we're looking at the Lenovo IdeaPad Y530. The IdeaPad Y530 is a pretty typical midsize system for home users, but it's got some really nice Lenovo touches and some unique features that help it stand out in the midsize market. It has a lovely black lid as well with an interesting textured design that looks a little bit like linen. I actually kind of like the design, but I also acknowledge that it's not for everyone. The keyboard on the IdeaPad Y530 isn't the same as a ThinkPad keyboard, but it's still quite comfortable and it's gonna be perfectly adequate for writing papers or typing up emails. Like a lot of media oriented laptops, the Y530 has what Lenovo is calling a frameless screen. Now you can see that there is still a frame, but it's all behind the one flush surface of plastic across the top, which makes for a really great movie watching experience. Another little touch that I really like is found in the display hinge, which is a little bit kinked. And what that does is it keeps the, pulls the display a little bit further away from the keyboard, so you have a slightly more ergonomic setup than you would on an average laptop. Despite its boxy black looks, the Y530 is really built for enjoying music and movies. Above the keyboard there's a row of light touch media controls. And long side it this orange shuttle key that, not only lets you control volume, but also lets you switch among functions on the light touch buttons. Inside of the case you've got 4 speakers plus a subwoofer, which adds some extra wait to the typically tinny laptop sound. I'm Michelle Thatcher, and this is the IdeaPad Y530.
