Inside Windows Phone 7 Series
[ Background music ] >> Jessica Dolcourt: Hi I'm Jessica Dolcourt for CNET here at CTI2010. I'm here with Jan from Microsoft. He is going to give us a closer look at Windows Phone 7 series. >> Jan: So Window's Phone 7 series is built on 2 major principles. One is smart design and the other is integrates and experiences and you'll see smart design throughout the device and how we lay out information on a page, the type of fonts that we use, the motion that is used when you're transferring from experience to experience, and even down to the hardware you'll see we have some dedicated hardware buttons as well, and with just a swipe I can unlock the phone and I'm taken to start. Start is more than just a grid of icons. It's a representation of all of the information that is important to me on the phone, and we do that through live tiles. Live tiles are dynamic representations of any piece of information that's important to me. So it could be a video, it could be a music file, it could be a playlist, I can even have applications, or hubs, or even people as my live tiles. A great example of a hub which is an integrated experience would be the people hub. Within the people hub you'll see that I have the recent people that I've contacted dynamically displayed for me. I also have a list of all of my contacts and these could be contacts from Windows Live, Facebook, Exchange, from on my phone itself that I may have manually entered or even for my SIM card, and I have the ability to browse through all of my contacts in 1 [inaudible] and the last thing you'll see is I have what's new and this is a what's new theme of all of the information coming dynamically from my family and friends directly inside the people hub. The last hub that I'll show you today is the games hub that features Xbox live and the great thing about the games hub is that it's truly an integrated experience. It brings together all of the relevant gaming content that you may have on your device and puts them all in one place; it's not just the games folder. So you'll see you have a spotlight feed, I have my collection of Xbox Live and non Xbox Live games. I have access to my avatar, my gamer score, my gamer tag and also the achievements that I've won with the game on the device and I'll also have access to my requests. So invitations to play asynchronous games, a nudge because it's my turn or just a notification that it's my turn, so all of my games can be found inside the games hub. ^M00:02:28 [ Music ]
