HyperDrive adapter saves you from MacBook Pro dongle hell
A start up company has a solution to the Macbook Pro's dongle problem.
Because the Macbook Pro only has two USB C-ports, there's no way to plug in any of your existing accessories.
You can't even plug in an iPhone unless you use a dongle converter.
For professionals that need to connect their gear the cost of extra adapters adds up fast.
Not to mention it looks goofy to have all these cords dangling out.
One company's solution is called the Hyperdrive, which snaps into both USB-C outlets to add a variety of useful ports.
It's available through a Kickstarter campaign shipping in February.
Early backers can now get it by pledging $70, afterward it will cost $100.
Adaptors for different plugs can typically range between $30 to $50 a pop.
Apple has faced criticism for selling a $2,000 computer that won't work with any other gadget, unless you dish out more money for adaptors.
If this start up company's product does get funded and becomes a reality, it may be the best fix for the MacBook's biggest problem.
