>> Hi. I'm Rich Brown, senior editor for CNET.com. Today we're going to take a look at the Pavilion Elite M9040N. Now this is actually an older desktop. It's about 9 months old, give or take, although it's still in the retail channel. So you can actually still buy the thing. It's designed to be kind of a mid-range multi-media system. It has a TV tuner, DVD burner. All kinds of features that really let you do quite a lot with it; more so than you'd be able to with a standard budget PC. So there are a couple of cool features on the front panel. Up top you have a media card reader. There's a media bay right here for a removable hard drive. And down here behind two doors, there's one row of ports and a door for yet another removable hard drive. We're not to psyched about those extra hard drive additions. They're kind of an upsell for HP. And we think you can find cheaper options that don't take up as much space inside your PC. So, as you can see, it's a little bit messy inside. You have one of those drive bays taking up a lot of space right here. There's all kinds of cables and things strewn about. You get a little room for upgrades. There's a spare PCI slot here. All the memory bays are filled though. There's a single GeForce graphics card in here, so that will definitely help with the performance overall. There's also a TV tuner, like we said. That's a nice multi-media feature. Now buried in among this mess of wires, you also find an integrated IR receiver, which is actually pretty handy for the remote control. That means there no extra [inaudible] hanging off the side of the system. It helps it clean up a little bit anyway. And down here you'll a Quad Core Intel chip that makes it nice and fast. Overall, this is a fairly well equipped multi-media PC, but you can definitely find a better deal on the market today. I'm Rich Brown. This is the HP Pavilion Elite M9040N.
