Hands on with Garmin's Vivosmart health tracker and smartwatch hybridThis $170 Garmin fitness tracker and smartwatch combo makes its debut at IFA 2014.
[MUSIC] Hi, I'm Megan Muller for Cnet here at IFA 2014 in Berlin with the Garmin Vivosmart. Now this device is both an activity tracker and a smart watch in one, that means that it will do the basic stuff like telling you how many calories you've burned, how far you've walked, how many steps you've walked in a day. To help you improve your health, it'll also tell you how well you've been sleeping so you can make adjustments to improve that over time, but it will also pair to your phone via Bluetooth, and that's where the smart watch portion comes in, it will send you vibration alerts that you can check on your wristband so you can see what messages. Emails, calls, texts that you've received throughout the day. You can also use the related Garmin Connect app for your Android or iOS device to get more detailed reports of your fitness and activity level. You can also connect this system to the MyFitnessPal app to get even more details, nutrition information. The Garmin vivosmart will be available on Bestbuy.com for $170 dollars in mid September. The Garmin Google Smart will have some strong competition with the recently announced Moto 360, and the rumored iWatch. So stay tuned with updates for that. Thanks for watching, I'm Megan Wullerton for Cnet.com
