>> Hi, I'm John Falcone senior editor at CNET.com and this is the Griffin Evolve iPod Speaker System. Now, if you look at it right now it doesn't look that different from a lot of iPod speaker modules that we've seen. But, the Evolve has one big advantage over previous models, which is that it has truly wireless speakers. You just lift both speakers off the recharging dock here and you can take them up to, Griffin says, 150 feet away and still hear the music perfectly. These are completely wireless thanks to the built in rechargeable lithium ion batteries. They give about ten hours of playback per charge, which is pretty much a day's worth. And then when you're done you throw them on the, on the recharger overnight and you're pretty much good to go the next day. It does have line in support, so, if you don't wanna use your iPod you can really use these to play back any audio whatsoever. The other main drawbacks with the Evolve are the fact that the batteries within the speakers are not user replaceable. That means a few years down the road when they eventually lose their charge, and they always do, you're pretty much out of luck unless Griffin comes up with a replacement program. The other big problem with the system is it doesn't get super loud. So, if you really like to crank the volume you're probably not gonna find this to your liking. But, at normal volume levels it actually sound pretty good for an iPod speaker. And the drivers are big enough that there's actually a decent amount of base. But, the real attraction here is the wireless freedom that the Evolve offers and the fact that it is true wireless. That's something we really haven't seen before in an iPod speaker or really any other speaker system at all. And, Griffin's done a really great job with it. I'm John Falcone and this is the Griffin Evolve iPod Speaker system.
