Google changed its logo, overshadowing its new thermostat. I'm Iyaz Akhtar filling in for Bridget Carey, this is you CNET Update. [MUSIC] Google showed off a brand new logo. Don't panic, but the serifs are gone. The logo is now sans serif. It retains its colorful look. And it looks like Google actually hinted of a new logo with its announcement that the company was restructuring under a new parent company called Alphabet. Take a look at the Alphabet announcement and the new logo. Google says it's dropping the lowercase G icon for a four color capital G. That news is definitely taking away attention from Google's other announcement. Google's Nest labs just unveiled a brand new version of the Nest smart thermostat. The new Nest is thinner and has a larger screen. That screen also got a resolution bump. So now text and graphics will appear clearer. The smart thermostat also picked up some new censors. So it can spot you from further away. If the nest sees you, it will display the current temperature or current time larger than normal, so you can actually read it from far away. The nest will still work with smartphone apps, so you can control your home's temperature from anywhere. The new nest costs the same as the older model at $249 and is up for pre-order in the US and Canada to start. The older model is still on sale, but at the reduced price of around $200. Amazon just upped its game against Netflix, the company announced an upgrade to its Amazon video apps for iOS and Android, and will let Prime subscribers download Amazon Prime shows and movies for offline viewing. After getting the latest version of the Amazon video app, downloading videos is pretty straightforward. Choose a movie or TV show, and then click the download icon. You can choose how much space will be eaten up on your phone by going to the settings menu. The manage data usage setting gives you the option of downloading on wi-fi networks only if you don't want to run through your data plan. To find your downloaded movies, click library, then refine, choose to display on device The features available to Prime members in Austria, Germany, the UK, and the US.
