CNET Top 5
CNET Top 5
Todays list almost makes a mockery of the name of this series:
How about The 5.
Thats about how few good, non
glare HDTVs are out there.
And youre about to meet them.
with the Top 5 non-glare matte screen TVs so you can
watch TV without having to sit in the dark.
#5 is the Toshiba TL515 Series.
Gets a Good rating from us,
does the basics well.
Its an LED LCD with a solid image, but its
off angle viewing suffers more than most, its back lighting was a
little unstable and you can pass on its passive 3D TV tech.
Toshibas Net TV connected services platform which youre
probably as excited about as the content partners who arent on
#4 is the Sony KDL-EX720 series.
This is currently Sonys least
expensive TV with both 3D and 240 Hz refresh rate, as well as
their best TV with an anti-glare screen.
We rate it Good like the
Its real energy efficient as well, getting our Green Pick
#3 steps us up into the Very Good category with the Sharp
Aquos Quattron LE732U series.
Its a good looking TV but more
than that its a BIG TV.
70 TVs are rare, even in rich folks
homes, but this one could be in yours with a remarkably cheap
price around $2,500 street - -great value on a per acre basis, but
that doesnt include construction costs for reinforcing the side of
your house where you hang it.
#2 is the Samsung LND630 series.
This is the non glare TV you
want it you just want a great picture and dont care about built-in
internet streaming, 3D and LED backlight.
None of that here, but
a good picture in a nice looking case with low glare for a good

matte layer that tends to scatter light coming from the set to your
- While a glossy screen attracts reflections like a Kardashians
attract stupid, manufacturers say they contain the reflection
better instead of smearing it around more like a matte screen.
- And finally, glossy screens look shiny and grab your eye in the
Its that simple.
OK, the #1 TV that wont act like a giant makeup mirror is the LG
This gets you the best image quality in the
Its an LED LCD and has good internet connectivity
On the other hand, its passive 3D technology is
sort of lame and if you get well off angle, the picture goes to
pieces faster than other TV.
But if you want the best picture in a
non-glare TV, this is your guy.
Thanks for CNETs David Katz who personally LOVES non-glare
TVs and I would recommend you always check out his reviews
before you buy any TV or youll end up buying some horrible
shiny thing and a whole lot of black out curtains to go with it.
