Flir's new drone camera is feeling the heatThe Duo and Duo R are hybrids between a thermal and a traditional 1080P camera and can be attached to a drone like a GoPro.
As if drones needed any more superpowers to add to their roster of features, they can now add heat sensing, thanks to FLIR's Duo and Duo R cameras. Now, don't be deceived by their GoPro form factor. They're actually thermal cameras combined with a traditional camera to create a more precise heat map. The thermal camera can also be turned off, if you just wanna record in traditional 1080p. The standard duo shows heat in forms of different colors, while the duo R uses radiometric technology to detect the exact temperature of an object or person. Now this is probably not gonna be used by your traditional consumer, but it can be extremely helpful in different situations like a solar panel inspection, for example, or For search and rescue teams. To eliminate problems and dangers for actual human beings, they can just send out a drone. The two cameras can be used with any drone that can manage a GoPro, but they're specifically partnering with Autel as you can see here. All you have to do is use the FLIR UAS app instead of the proprietary app from the drone. Both cameras are available for purchase today but Duo will cost 999 while the Duo R will cost 1299.
