These Street Fighters engage in Mortal Kombat for $500 every weekEsports Arena aims to be the premiere destination for pro gaming leagues looking for new recruits. Are you ready to get bodied?
[MUSIC] So we heard there's this place you can go to in Southern California where you can actually fight other people in person inside video games. Esports Arena, it's home for competitive video gaming. So it's kind of like a fight club. [LAUGH] More or less so, yeah eventually I guess. Started in the garage and now they're taken up by thirteen thousand square feet. How did it get from a garage to thirteen thousand square feet? You know, like every inherited gamer they play with their buddies. And then when you play with your buddies that gets old after a while then you want to play against other buddies. And they tell their buddies, and they tell their buddies, and so on and so on and so on. They bring in more and more and more people into this. I mean, they stream it out live to tens of thousands of people that watch it every Wednesday night till 3 o'clock in the morning. Okay, but what about the rules of Fight Night? You know what, I'm not in the fighting scene. I think you're gonna have to ask these guys. I will. I will ask them. [MUSIC] Excuse me, what are the rules of this fight club? I will say the number one most important rule? You gotta get hype. Hype? Hype. Gotta get hype. Get ready to get hyped. Gotta bring your fight stick. Boom, fight stick. Do it. [UNKNOWN] I can't use this. [SOUND] Otherwise, just start watching. I mean, that's not bad either. You always have to play at least one round. You have to enjoy. You don't touch my hair. You can't get salty about it, even if you lose. Never touch my sunglasses. That is the Holy Grail. That is a. You have to enjoy. And if you notice that I said you have to enjoy twice, I said that because it's that important. You really need to enjoy. Thank you. Thank you. What? First rule is There are no rules. No rules? I mean, someone give me the CEO of this building. I need some answers. I am the CEO of Level Up, LLC. Okay. There is a CEO. I used to be one of United States street fighter champions in the 90s. And I made it a point, hey. I'll throw some events and see what the new generation [UNKNOWN] they all suck. They all sucked. So I'm like, what can I do to help them level up their performance? We obviously outgrew the garage, now here we are six years later at the EA Sports arena. I call this the modern age arcade. It's just like a club. You come at 9:30, 10:00, sign up Beat some ****, get your **** beat. Collect some money, collect some tears. Go home, do it again. If this is your first time, you must fight. Wait. I gotta fight? I'm gonna need some help. [MUSIC] I heard you're the best. Can you teach me to be a champion? I will. What do I need to know? Well, lesson number one, you have to be patient. Already at a disadvantage, I see. Lesson number two, you have to stay calm. And strike two! And lesson number three, you need to learn how to rush down. You need to learn how to rush down? Learn how to rush your opponent down. Already a little lost, but willing to learn. Teach me your ways. Okay. [MUSIC] I did it, I made it. I'm the best. Is it time for you to go be in a tournament now? It is. Now that I'm the best, congratulations on your second place tonight. [LAUGH] Thank you. So now I'm a master Street Fighter, which means it's time to register for this tournament to show everybody who's boss. I'm ready to enter, sign me up. Sorry, the registration closed about 20 minutes ago. Typical. You can come next week though. We're here every Wednesday. Okay, I'll be back next week. I'm coming for you! I'll be here. So I may not have registered, and I may not have become a Street Fighter champion last night. But I did make some great new friends, who I will be returning to destroy next week in the next Wednesday night fight. [SOUND]
