Hello, everyone! I'm Molly Wood and welcome to the CNET Mailbag, the show where we read your email, your snail mail, your feedback posts, and your postcards, and try to answer your questions and keep you informed. For example, let's start with some information. I wanted to let you know about some new changes to CNET TV! There are some behind-the-scenes tweaks to make it run faster, and the big change YOU'LL see is that we've replaced the HD off/on button with a quality selector that offers four choices. It'll work with new and very recent videos, and our player will detect your computer and bandwidth and hopefully set it to the right quality. You can play with it, of course, and choose whatever quality you want. See, and multiple quality options were something a lot of people asked for. But apparently, it's not something Chris wanted. He says: What is up with the new HD button? IT IS REALLY POINTLESS!!!!!!!! The old buttons are a whole lot better. And when I switch between SD to HD, it takes forever! Also, it doesn't stay on HD when you switch videos! Please Fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. Go Tom Merritt! He is awesome! I hope the rest of you like the new feature a little more, but I'll look into that sticky HD thing. In other CNET news, our annual holiday gift guide is live at holiday.cnet.com. I've been mentally redesigning my house all day. He also asks if we could give some advice to the Digital Life podcast crew at CNET Australia, who he says have the beginnings but could do with some help. Give them time, Mark. They're only in the 70s, episode-wise. It took us like thousand to make Buzz Out Loud any good. Thanks to Andrew for your postcards, your excellent penmanship, and your appreciation of my pronunciation of the word chutzpah. I also got very sweet notes from Won and Claudio, so thank you both for that. And now for some email. Samu el Cubanu writes to say: Dear Cnet, I am probably your bigest 12-year-old fan. I love your shows Molly, Brian, And Tom, but hate the ads. That is why I get my whole school to watch. Right now my school ACES is having the 7th grade annual science fair. I wanted to do it on technological things but I have to be able to prove it. Can you please give me a topic, I will really appreciate it. Please answer me as soon as possible. Um. DUDE!? We are not doing your homework for you. I hate to tell you, but that is pretty much a CNET policy. You have to do your own homework. Plus, geez, man. Try Google. wWe got a lot of responses to Brian Cooley's harshing on the Infiniti QX56, mostly from people who either own one or want to own one. I'm guessing Christine owns one. She says: Don't like my QX, huh, geek. That's too bad. I'm willing to bet you drive one of those little dinky cars......wimpy little mini cooper. Ha, ha, ha! Hope you enjoy it......loser! That's right. Own it, Christine! In other crazymail, j.young says: I have difficulty understanding your computer geek enunciation and volume both suffer. Uh. Which computer geek? We've got a couple around here. And finally, let's do a little auto-incorrect. Alex says: I was typing a message to a friend on my iPhone which simply included "yeah!" For some reason, my iPhone figured I meant "Utah!" The text was sent before I noticed it (and because the iPhone is such a great product, I can't stop text messages from sending), and I just laughed for a good 5 minutes as my friend replied back "what the hell.."
