Hi, I'm Molly Wood, and welcome to the Buzz Report � the show about the tech news that everybody�s talking about. This week, it�s Bing, Natal, Pre, and hopefully a few things with normal names. But first, it�s the Gadget of the Week. Well, it�s here. The Gadget of the Week is the Palm Pre. IT�S. REAL. It�s officially available on Saturday, June 6, and we�ve been playing with it for a while here at CNET. I�m happy to report that it gets service at my house, unlike certain other phones around here. But that�s not what you�re here for � in general, it�s an interesting little jobbie. It feels kind of flimsy and plasticky, the keyboard is really tiny and cramped, and the interface isn�t super intuitive � but once you start playing with it and get the hang of it, it�s actually quite fun to use. The little card interface is cute and useful, the Web surfing and data retrieval are REALLY fast. Plus it�s super fun to just swipe away programs you�re no longer using, and well, the only question really is � get one now, or wait for the Verizon version? Yeah. Get one now. And now for the news. E3 Expo is back, baby! The big games and entertainment show actually brought back the big this year, and our own Brian Tong was there � and has a rundown of the headlines. My take? Nintendo, you can have one year off, but that�s it. Seriously? Vitality sensor? Uh. Ok. Sony? Not bad. Still need to make the PS3 cheaper. Natal? Awesome! In five years! Can�t wait that long! In other news of the week, Microsoft released its new search engine, called Bing. And it rolled out Bing with a bang � a one hundred million dollar ad campaign that � some might say a tad bit cynically � attempts to link Google with global economic meltdown and paint Bing, the �decision engine,� as the savior of your � something. "While everyone was lost in the links, there was collapsing. We don�t need queries and keywords if they bring back questions and confusion. From this moment on, search overload is officially over." Ok, really? Who even THINKS about search that much? Seriously, though. Stop calling it a �decision engine.� That is meaningless. And speaking of Microsoft, the company announced that Windows 7 will launch on October twenty-second. And if you think the ads for Bing are over-wrought, can you IMAGINE what they�ll say about the best new operating system in human history, the anti-Vista, the like, sorcerer�s stone and the one ring to rule them and the alpha and the omega � we should help them come up with a meaningless marketing term for Windows 7. Like � isochronous meaning fulfillment generation � wormhole. I like that. That�s good. Use that. And finally, Apple�s Worldwide Developers Conference starts Monday in San Francisco, and oh, boy, the banners are going up! And once the banners go up, bloggers start poring over them like religious texts, looking for clues as to whether they suggest a new iPhone, a new version of OS X, an Apple tablet, a hovercraft, you know. That sort of thing. This year, it says �One year later. Light-years ahead.� Yeah. Deep. Now, using the most sophisticated imaging and text-parsing equipment available in the CNET labs, I have carefully decoded this year�s banner, and I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that the hidden message is � We love it when you nerds go crazy over this sh*t.
