Tap That App
Best free apps to get fit and lose weightWhat's the best way to get in shape? With the help of technology, of course! We bring you three iPhone and Android apps to help you get fit and lose weight.
Hey everyone, welcome to Tap That App. Im Sharon Vaknin and today, were gonna talk fitness. Now we go over a lot of helpful apps...for texting while driving, getting girls, and apps for making your own ringtones...but nobody told you how to look good while doing it. So Ive got three FREE apps for Androids and iPhones to help you get in shape. First up is RunKeeper. Its a free app for Android AND iPhone that lets you track your outdoor activities like running, hiking, and biking. So if youre out on a hike, start the activity, and RunKeeper will give you your pace, calorie count, and itll use your phones GPS to track the route in Google Maps. When youre done, you can show off your success by posting to Facebook. All your activities are saved onto the app AND the RunKeeper website where you can view larger maps, check out your friends activity, and monitor your progress. Now exercise is VERY important for your health, but dont forget about your diet. If youre trying to lose weight or maintain it, you need to be burning more calories than youre consuming, and My Fitness Pal for iPhone and Android helps you do just that. Its a beautiful app that gives you a daily calorie goal based on your current weight, height, sex, age, and goal weight. It also asks you how many pounds you want to lose per week...and I suggest starting off slow. Then you add what youve eaten, and what exercises youve done that day, and the app will adjust to let you know how much more you can eat that day. Id recommend this app to the Type As out there, because even though it can be really effective, it takes a lot of dedication and honesty to see results. But remember that if you cheat, youre only cheating yourself. Now, its really easy to get a gym membership, but if youre not fitness-savvy, you could wind up on the tredmill and elliptical every day. You need a variety of strength and cardio to burn the most fat and keep your workouts from getting boring. Fitness Pro for iPhone gives you a huge selection of strength training workouts using machines, bar bells, or just the mat. Each exercise has photos and a description to make sure your form is on point. You can pick exercises based on the muscle you want to tone, or choose from one of the preloaded routines. And if youre a complete fitness noob, go to the anatomy tab and get a few lessons in the human body. Then, when you click on a muscle group, youll get a list of exercises to work that area. When you complete you exercises, hit the pencil button and log your sets for that day so that later on you can see how youve improved over time. And Fitness Pro also lets you map your runs, but it has fewer features than RunKeeper. Thats it for todays show. For more videos like this go to CNET TV dot com.
