Tap That App
Avoid travel agony with HipmunkThis week's app puts a new spin on travel search.
What up folks, welcome to Tap That App. Im Jaymar Cabebe, and this is the show where we tap the hottest apps on planet Earth. This week, we are checking out an app that may actually help you prep for the next holiday, which is right around the corner. Its a fantastic travel search app called Hipmunk Flight Search. Its kind of similar to Kayak, but its got a few of its own unique little twists. So, If youve ever searched for a flight online, on any site at all, then using Hipmunk should be super simple. Theres a nice little section with your recent searches here, and the rest of the form is pretty standard. Here, you can input your departure and destination cities. Then travel dates. Notice the really cool calendar popup. Its easy to scroll through, and I like how it highlights your trip real bold-like. Next, you can choose from Coach, Business, or First class, and enter the number of travelers. Finally, when youre ready, hit Search for Flights. Now, heres where Hipmunk differentiates itself from the other travel apps out there. It pulls searches from several carriers and travel broker sites, just like Kayak, BUT it presents its results in a uniquely visual way, that makes it super easy to compare different flight options. At a glance, you can see the lengths of flights, stopovers, and even the flights that have Wi-Fi available. Youve got Prices along the side here. Times across the top. And with these buttons at the bottom, you can sort by Arrival, Departure, Price, or Agony. Sorting by Agony is something that no other travel app offers. It factors in price, flight time, and stopovers, then returns results, basically in order of how miserable you would be on each flight. See, this one here looks pretty awesome, right? While this one way down here at the bottom, would very likely suck tremendously. When youre done scrolling through the available options, go ahead and tap the row of each of your desired flight legs to move on to booking. Hipmunk lets you book your trip straight away with this link here. Or you can use this nifty Linkword when you get back to your desktop computer. Just go to finish.hipmunk.com and enter it to complete your booking. Thats it for this week. If youve got a hot app that you want to show off, holler at me on the Twitter. Thanks for watching.
