>> Hi. I'm Scott Stein, senior associate editor at CNET.com, and this is the Asus EEE PC 1201N. Now, it's a netbook with a 12.1-inch screen, which we've seen a lot in ultra portables. They give a little bit larger. What's a really interesting about this, however, is that not only does it have additional graphics thanks to NVIDIA Ion, which we've seen in a couple of other laptops before, but this also has a dual core atom processor, which is very rare in netbooks, and in fact, this is the first one that we've seen that uses an N330 processor. They're usually seen in desktop solutions. What it gives here is better multitasking, but not at the level that you'd see in your core two-duo processor, still better than that of netbook and some pretty nice gaming graphics. We played "Unreal Tournament 3" at about 30 frames per second. This whole package costs 499. It comes with a 250-gig hard drive, two gigs of RAM, and the keyboard's really nice. In fact, it's pretty comfortable and big to work on. The trackpad's a little small, and the buttons here are a little bit difficult to click. That wasn't our favorite. The one drawback to the 1201, of course, is that while it has a six-cell battery that's nicely integrated, it gives you about half the life of most netbooks now running N450 Pinetrail atom processors. Usually, we're expecting about six hours of battery life. This runs in the three-hour range, so you need to keep a charger handy, and it's a little bit of a let down. On the other hand, if you're looking for a pretty compact, 12-inch machine at $500.00 that can play some games and play HD video, in fact, even output 1080 P, give this a look. It's the Asus EEE PC 1201 N. I'm Scott Stein, CNET.
