App for beating jet lag takes off
Whether you're traveling 3 time zones or 13, beat the exhaustion, grumpiness, and even depression of jet lag with the help of technology.
Researchers at the University of Michigan have developed a free app for iPhone users.
That aims to help your body better adjust to time differences before and after your trip.
The app is called Entrain and it works on the principle of adjusting your body's circadian.
Circadian rhythms with light and the time of day.
To get started you need to enter some information about your patterns while at home.
And then teach us about your upcoming trip.
Like location, how long you'll be there and anticipated exposure to different types of light.
For example, is this a business trip where you'll be indoors most of the time?
Or a hiking trip with lots of natural light exposure.
Once the app has the pertinent data, it crunches the numbers to give you a schedule for when to spend time in bright light and when to submerge yourself into darkness.
