[ Music ] ^M00:00:08 >> Brian Tong: Hey guys Brain Tong here with Tap That App our show that focuses on all the hottest and coolest mobile apps in the mobile space for all platforms and just recently announced was the Opera Mini browser for the iPhone just want to jump into this app and see what it's got. So what you have here, here's the Opera Mini browser I'm just gonna launch the application and the first thing that you're gonna see is this speed dial window. Now this represents your favorite sites that you go to frequently. You can remove them if you want, you can also add a site, just punch in the one you want to go to and it's gonna load it, and then add it to your favorites. Now the Opera Mini browser is all about speed and it does this by talking to Opera servers, it compress the data before it delivers it to the iPhone and when you're navigating and surfing the web you can feel that pages load significantly faster. So I'm gonna jump in here to ESPN.com and what's crazy about this this is loading the full entire site and if you just give it a moment here you go the page is loaded and I can zoom into it and there you go. Now navigating in Opera is a little bit different. Here at CNET.com's website and you can pinch the zoom but what's a little easier in Opera is you can just tap in an area and then it zooms into the text but you can't zoom any more than this. I can try and pinch it to expand it, it won't go any further, so you're a little limited in how far you can actually zoom into the page and when I have a link I want to click on obviously just press on it and it'll load the page. Now selecting text the copy and paste is here in the Opera Mini browser but it handles it a little differently. What you want to do is hold your finger down with a long press and then a window will pop up that allows you to select the text but what I found is that when your dragging the cursor around it deals with chunks of texts or a series of words a lot better than it does with a specific word and in fact I wasn't even able to choose a specific word that I wanted and the iPhone Safari really just handles it a lot better. Now a couple of features that are unique to the Opera browser that I really like is the ability to find a word or a term within a page and then you can jump to the next instance of it as well as the fact that you can search all your web browsing history, that's something that Safari doesn't have. You also have tab browsing in Opera and it's really executed nicely. There's this bar on the bottom that shows them all. I was able to add up to 14 tabs. You can go even further than that but it becomes a little crowded and hard to manage but more tabs is always a good thing. Overall, if you're looking for a browser with speed Opera Mini is the way to go. It has some really killer unique features, like its history and the ability to search within a page. It doesn't execute things that well when it comes to zooming and cut, copy and paste but it's a great alternative to the iPhone Safari. It's free and you know that we're gonna tap anything that is free.
