A Pogo Stick for the 21st centuryCNET contributor Katie Linendoll takes a jump on the Flybar 800 propulsion device from SBI Enterprises and discovers that it's not quite as intuitive as its precursor.
Hi, I'm Katie Linda, and today, I'm gonna take you through the Flybar 800. Two different versions of these. This is the lighter weight version. It's only 11 pounds, 11 pounds. Very important that you wear a helmet when on the Flybar. So there's a lot of adjustments that can be made in the unit. So I'm gonna go ahead and tweak with it. So the tool is right in my hand. I'm gonna pop that out, and I'm just gonna unscrew. I'm gonna take this in parts and get to the thrusters and change the resistance. Yeah. Alright there. Considerable amount of guts inside the unit. So this is actually the piston right here and you can adjust the length in the piston from 9, which is novice, to 12 which is intermediate, and 15 which is a little bit more advanced, and this just slides up and down again using that tool. What I'm actually gonna go on and do? There's 8 thrusters. I'm gonna pop off 1 more thruster to change the resistance. Let's try this. Alright. It's-- I thought I was gonna get on this. Now we just gonna let go. I got some leg muscles too. This isn't easy. This is frustrating because I'm athletic and I feel like I can just get on it and it's not happening. I don't know if it's even a learning curve. It's a lot different than just hopping on something and knowing that it's gonna carry you. You're fight-- You're battling it, and it's really frustrating. It's just that it doesn't come naturally. I'm gonna adjust the piston and try to get a little more spring action. Holy cow. This is not easy. I took off 2 more thrusters, trying to get a better spring. I keep feeling like I'm fighting it and it's just not moving with me. So let's see how this works. Holy-- I bottomed out. I thought taking off the thrusters will give it more-- No. It's not happening. It's not happening. Alright, we've been out here for a few hours trying and tinkering with the Flybar 800. Kinda disappointing. I was kinda really excited to go crazy on this. This is very much my style. You know what, well help me put up a good up and I think for somebody that wants to play with it even longer and master it and do the tricks and the cool stuff that you see on the video, I'm sure that it's possible. However, I just didnt have a high level of success and 249.99, I think it's a tough sell if you just wanna get out there and have fun. Geez. I'm better on stelts.
